"IFC S1 R40 entry" @dustsweeper and @steemchiller

Okay you ask yourself right of the bat, what does @dustsweeper, have to do with IFC and Steem. How does it help steem. It helps a lot. I am not sure this is what @apolymask was looking for, but I really do not have a lot of issues with steemit, I like it. Yes it has its problems, but there really are people working to fix some of those problems. @dustsweeper is one of those groups of people that saw a problem and came up with a solution to that problem.

Somewhere buried in the algorithm of steemit blockchain, is a little piece of code that was designed to help prevent spam. That little bit of code basically said if a post or a comment does not reach a certain monetary value that those votes will be burned, poof, up in smoke, as if no vote had been made to reward a post or comment. This has not really helped the spam issue, all it did was make it difficult for new users to earn any rewards from either posting or commenting.

@dustsweeper solves one portion of this problem. If you receive a vote on your content, or a vote on a comment you leave to another individual, on day 5 or 6, they will come by, look to see if your comment/post reward value is below the dust level and they will rescue the vote that was given to you, by raising it above the dust-off level. What does this mean? In simple terms it means you get rewarded, and the person that gave you the vote will get their curation reward.

This is not a free service, it does cost you SBD's to have this vote rescue squad behind you. @dustsweeper is not a paid upvote bot. You are not paying to have a vote applied to your post or to a comment you made. What you are paying for, and what you will receive is a small percentage vote that will raise the votes from others that you received to reward payout level. Keep in mind however that reward payout level is calculated at the time of payout, so if on day 5 @dustsweeper lifts a dust vote on one of your comments or post, there is a chance that the price of steem/sbd will fall over those two days, then you still would not get a payout if your payout dropped below the dust level.

So what is the cost? For initial sign-up they would prefer you sign up with 1 SBD, however they do understand the reality of the new user situation, and you can sign up with less, When I started, I did not have much SBD. I think I signed up with slightly less than $0.500. I have since raised it as I got a few more SBD's saved up. With an investment of 1 SBD, you will receive 72 dusted vote rescues. This is absolutely worth the cost. Here is an example of how much it has the potential to be worth. If all you received was the absolute bare amount to raise a vote you received to the $0.025 level you would receive $1.80 in return. Most of the voting that I have received has been lifting the dust votes to the $0.030 level for me so that equates to $2.16, and all it cost was 1 SBD.

Do not let those numbers fool you, understand those numbers do not come from @dustsweeper. They come from the rescued dust-off votes that you received. The bonus is that the person that cast those votes also received a small curation reward courtesy of you using @dustsweeper. All @dustsweeper did was cast a very small vote to raise the payout level to a real payout level instead of the votes going poof.

@davemccoy, heard about the dust vote problem, he thought about what could be done to rescue these burned away votes, he got in contact with witness @danielsaori to discuss the issue, thus was born the @dustsweeper. An example of one person seeing a problem and coming up with a solution. An investment in the @dustsweeper is an investment in yourself and in all steemians that vote.

Steemworld.org

Okay, now for my next favorite thing on steemit, or steemit related, that provides a real helpful hand for new user. This is from @steemchiller, and his absolutely wonderful tool steemworld. Steemworld is a front end steemit data viewer. https://steemworld.org/@bashadow.
Here is a screenshot:
steemworld sample.png
You may, as a new user seen and heard people talking about shout outs, and mentions on various post and wonder what they are talking about. With steemworld.org, you can now know when someone mentions you in a post. You will receive a notification that you have been mentioned in a post, by someone. Prior to steemworld.org, the only other way I knew to find when people talked about you was with ginabot. Steemworld.org, unlike ginabot, will not let you know about mentions in the discord chat rooms, only when you are mentioned in a seemit post or comment.

The above are just a few of the useful tool that @steemchiller has incorporated into his product, and the best thing about it? it is free. That's right he does not charge you to use his app. Unless you use one of the tools, you do not even need to sign into it or anything, it just works.

Yes there are a few issue's with steemit, but as you can see from above, there are people working to make steemit a great place to relax, learn, and just have fun. There are more than just these two out there. You just have to look or ask someone.

Thank you All

I would like everyone to know that I have had an absolute wonderful time posting and participating in the IFC. From round 1 to round 40, it has been a real challenge at times, but it has always been fun. I have met some very nice people here, I have got to learn about other parts of the world through the IFC, and the content and quality of most of the post to the IFC have been top notch. We are entering the final 16 soon, and I would like to say thank you for everyone that has played, you have made me laugh at times, think to hard at times, and even brought tears to my eyes at times. What a wonderful group you have all been. IFC is what steemit can be.

Just saw this right as I was on my way out the door for my attempted daily walk and while I don't have the time to fully read your whole post right now and properly respond I did read the very last part here..

Thank you All

That was touching and awesome to read and I feel very similar! So it's great to know I'm not the only one and that others also have been feeling or thinking such kinds of things.

I think it's a good sign to hear this kind of feedback and also experience it in myself as well.. I think these things are telling me and us and anyone with the ears to listen that there is some value here in this IFC idea and especially the people who have gathered around it. I don't need any charts or studies or lists or any of that in the end, just seeing comments like this one of yours and feeling my own feelings tells me that there's something here people enjoy, and that I should try to do whatever I can to nurture that, protect it and help it grow. Thank you as well for nurturing this idea, protecting it and helping it grow. I think between me you, charisma, iexplore, kryptocek and the others who care about this,it's in good hands! :)

Will respond in more detail to your entry when I get to voting for this round probably in a couple days, thanks for being such a great player and friend all the way through! And.. I'm excited to see where the path goes into the future. Cheers bashadow! :D

Congrats to you too @apolymask... Its a credit to you that you got such wonderful people to help and participate... Obviously we both know the incredible people that we are talking about, so my hat is tipped to you for bringing them all together!

Both of those are great "add ons" for Steemit, and I use both!

=^..^=

Great post. I too have just got on to dust sweeper and think that it is a great tool to have in your steemit utility belt.

It really is a great tool, and it helps not just the person that gets the little vote, it helps that vote giver grow also by giving them a reward, in that their vote is no longer dust so hopefully they get a curation reward out of it.

Thank you for the awesome post and also for what you have done for the @ifc... You are a terrific person @bashadow! I can't say it any better than that :)

If you haven't heard it yet you should check out the IFC Song done by Ed Privat
It came out great.

@bashadow I haven't heard it but will listen right now! Awesome to show me :)

Great entry @bashadow, I love @davemccoy's dustsweeper iniative. I still have to dig around on Steemworld.org a little more.

I think your post helped the most thats why im voting for you
And thanks il be using steemworld now😁

They are both great, if you have not looked into dustsweeper you should, it really helps when Steem, like now, decreases, and a vote that used to be 3 cents is now one.

Oh i see il check it out thanks!

IFC is what steemit can be.

I believe that statement 100%

glad i saw this, because i thought we had to come up with something ourselves to fix a problem and help steemit. you are using someone else's invention ... good job! lol

@steemchiller trying to decrease my delegation to a user on Steemworld, but getting this error:

Ok

Any ideas?

I see he was able to help you in the comment on his page. With all of his tweaking, sometimes things get a bit bouncy at times but they usually get resolved very quickly. Glad he was able to resolve the issue for you.
