Dear Steemit, it is still very rude to contact me in Steemit chat for the sole purpose of getting me to vote on your posts! I'm talking to you Indonesia, Aceh! South china sea!
If we are not friends, if you don't have any real business with me, if you are not trying to get a loan or a delegation rental (or whatever other business I'm offering at the time), if we don't have some other existing relationship (business or otherwise)
Then I consider it rude to contact me and pimp your posts to me, please don't do it.
For some strange reason, people from Indonesia, Aceh and South China sea area are the worst offenders, why is this? I got no idea, and I don't care to speculate, just stop.
I'm just going to start blocking people who contact me like this.
Want my attention? Make smart, intelligent comments on my posts that indicate that you actually read and understood the post.

I understand this is a tempting practice but in the long run these people will be block after their first attempt.
It's definitely tempting for new users, especially whenever you see established users earning hundreds of steem every day. But I guess that's unfortunately just how it is as Steemit is as well a Platform some people expect to get rich with very fast.
I've joined for the money as well but after a few days I stopped thinking about it as it's really the Community that's making this website awesome. I probably will never get rich here but I'll get a part of the Community, so that I feel sorry for you guys getting spammed as you are so valuable to Steemit 😕
What annoys me too is people sending me 0.005 STEEM with a link to their post. My attention cannot be bought for 1 cent, and it took a lot of restraint for me to avoid flagging the linked post on principle.
The wallet spam isn't as bad, though it can be a little annoying if it's a tiny amount of money.
Since my campaign for #whalepower project, I experienced similar ways in my Steemit chat, as you you @neoxian .

It's happening more and more. Yesterday was the first time this happened to me on Discord aswell. I don't care much about Steemit.chat, easy to ignore, but I use Discord for other purposes aswell, so it's very annoying if that starts becoming a new way of spamming.
I don't use either Steemit.chat or Dischord, but I can imagine it would feel like receiving a telemarketing call at meal time.(or actually anytime). Very inappropriate. Maybe they will learn or they will fade away.

I doubt they'll fade away. The more new people join, the more this will probably happen. Some might learn, but there'll be new ones!
