Agreements Between Islam and Judaism (0001)

Night Comes First

There are many agreements between Jewish law and Islamic law. One of these is the topic of this post.

Each night is the night of the tomorrow day, not today's night. Today's night was the last night. Both in Islam and Judaism night-day order is the same.

Judaism's proof mentioned in Berakhot 2a of Talmud as:

As it is written in the story of creation: “And there was evening, and there was morning, one day” (Genesis 1:5). According to this verse, day begins with the evening and not the morning. (https://www.sefaria.org/Berakhot.2a.9?lang=bi)

Just like in Islamic calendar, the sunset is the border between days, not sunrise.

The Borders of the Evening according to Islam

According to Islamic practice, the evening starts with complete sunset. It is the time when the adhan for the evening prayer has been performed. The end of the evening is when there is no sunlight left in the horizon. It is the time when the adhan for night prayer has been performed.
