RE: My first day with domino's as a delivery driver!

in #journey8 years ago (edited)

I couldn't imagine doing the job without cell phones, there's usually one bad address a night or they forget to give their apt # or buzzer # lol without a cell we'd have to find a payphone or go back to the restaurant... their a life saver for sure.

I don't get commission, but I do get 1.$ per delivery and tips on top of my wage plus a meal a day. I work for a little family owned Chinese food joint, great people and good food. If I didn't smoke cigarettes I'd be making more than enough to live off (and even save a bit) lol but of course I'm broke all the time... f'n smokes (one day soon... I know it) I honestly love my job, Ha I almost feel like I'm getting paid to bring people food and tell them about bitcoin, for the last 2 weeks I've been telling my customers about steemit, I'm trying to get my whole community on board. lol and I'm seeing a lot of happy faces ;)

some good tips

  • Save some bucks and get a decent dash cam - because you're on the road more than most drivers the law of averages means you're more likely to eventually get into an accident lol it'll most likely not be your fault and the proof will save your ass.

  • Youtube is your friend - you can do 90% of the repairs most cars end up needing, K&N air filters and good spark plugs can make a 2 liter 4 cylinder 5 spd nice and peppy and will even save a bit of fuel, I even over inflate my tires a tad so the roll better (for the dry season) I don't like paying over 1000. for a delivery car lol but prefer to only pay 500.$

  • Keep your fuel tank topped off especially in the summer time - most fuel pumps use the fuel to transfer the heat that the pump creates... so a full tank means it can disperse a lot more heat than a tank near Empty and end up burning it out. Fuel pumps are expensive and pains in the asses to change

  • and get a steemit.com logo on your back window - just cause ;)

Cheers man, Good luck with your new job lol may 16 deliveries be a slow night for ya

Hey man, yeah - I'm working on a dash cam, We had one provided by the last company i worked for, We used to do 16 deliveries every 2 hours :P So yeah, I hope so! As for repairs, I have my own personal mechanic's on tap :P 'bout 3 of them, never had an issue with my car's anyway, i always keep them maintained to the highest degree, Although the shell looks shocking, the Working parts are quite exquisite to say the least :P - and my worst nightmare would be running out of fuel midshift, so i try to keep it topped up either way x] But i'll get a steemit logo, Amongst the other 20-30 tags i want :P I Spent about £450 total for my car, Had her 2 years already, Gonna run her into the ground (in a nice way) before i decide to upgrade again, But she's just for cheaper insurance purposes realistically :P

Wow I can barely get a car to last a year, I guess it's more getting bored with a car ... or I let too many issues add up and it ends up costing more than another car, My first delivery car was a 1986 VW Cabriolet that I payed 425. CA$ fun to drive and cheap. My last one will be a Tesla ;)
