Learning about strengths you didn't know you had, and dealing with fears you didn't know existed.

Last January 14, midnight , I received a call from my mom, she doesn't usually call that late, just seeing her name appearing on my phone screen made me feel fretful. I almost choked when I answered.
It was about Hailley, complaining abdominal pain for more than 24 hrs with several episodes of vomiting at close interval.
Worried is just an understatement to describe how I really feel that time. I have a type of mind that clings to the worst-case scenarios. "What if it's appendicitis?" I thought to my self. With my catastrophic mind I rush home leaving the office in a flash.

We rush her to the Emergency Room. Her eyes on me while she was squeezing her upper left abdomen, trying to relieve the pain. With her cry I can imagine the degree of pain she was experiencing. It was excruciating, as she described it. It was so difficult for me seeing her in pain and hearing her cry. Seeing her weak, not being able to stand and feverish due to dehydration.

Ive never been scared my entire life, not until that day.

After 5 days of being admitted and with the help of medical intervention, gladly her condition finally improved. She's back to her old self , hyper active , artistic, talkative.

Her only complaint was that her IV line was on her left hand, she can't do much of artworks, cause yes, she's a leftie.
I'm glad that's the only complaint she had.

In today’s fast-paced world, it is easy to lose track of how amazing life really is. I, despite what happen, realized that there are still so many things to be grateful for, even to the tiniest details , I'm still thankful that

•It wasn't appendicitis, she doesn't have to go through any medical operation.

•I have supportive friends and families who are always there encouraging me to not give up.

•The hospital staff was able to diagnose the problem early

•It was just a mild case of dyspepsia that can be avoided by eating the right food.

•I have a job that offers health insurance so don't have to pay high hospitalization bills.

That explains why I wasn't visible for more than a week. I'm glad we were able surpass it. And I'm back here with you guys Steeming.

I always make it a habit to find good things on any situation. I have discovered that one of the secrets to happiness is changing your frame away from what you don’t have to what you can be grateful for. Do you agree? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
