Jordan Peterson: Bible Series XI: Sodom and Gomorrah
Back in the saddle after 5 months off.. Probably the worst thing I could have done was rest for 5 months, but alas, what's done is done. I had no idea things here on steemit had become... so ... interesting
Continuing with the recap of Dr. Jordan Peterson's Bible Series.... Had lots of time to think about it and watch these over again.
- Peterson starts with a recap of the importance of sacrifice
"It's necessary to make sacrifices in order to move ahead in life... Really, it's a discovery of incalculable magnitude... It's like the discovery of the future, or of the utility of work."
God's order that Abraham circumcise himself and his house is to be an exemplar of this concept of sacrifice.
- Sodom and Gomorrah has less to do with homosexuality than it does with sexual impropriety in general
"I think it's about two things, primarily. One is: How do you treat the strange? How do you interact with the stranger? How do you react to things that you don't know?"
- "The Idea that the future is a Judgmental Father... Is a REALLY REALLY GOOD IDEA!"
The future isn't just made up of other people... It's mostly made up of YOU. What's happening right now is that if you make the sacrifices properly, then your're actually pleasing that future set of people who will be relying on your good decisions today! Our choices reverberate thru time..
Where did you get the Steem Dad's logo? That's neat! @ironshield
I love it too! it's from @daddykirbs. He's made a bunch of them, and as far as I know, he's still churning them out!
Nice to see this on Steemit. I’ve been following Jordan Peterson for a few years and his bible lecture series is so insightful. My favorite one is the one about Jacob and Esau.
Awesome! It's good to have you back here.
