There is a saying in Nigeria, that every way is a way. This is a practical example of that statement. This group of Ghanaian window has proven that statement to be true.
If you are planning a funeral and you want tears flowing like a river may be because of your love for the deceased or you want to make an impression? Lol then this is for you, the picture you see there is a group of women, known as the Funeral Contractors Association, who are ready to shed tears in exchange for money. Is funny right. But it is the truth.
I gather this information from a BBC news that showed some group of Ghanaian window who’s job is to help someone’s cry at their funeral. The women told bbc that they decided to start the business to make money to feed their kids and also take care of their family.
In most cases, They do not have to know the deceased. Their job is just to cry and earn morning for crying. Their charges varies depending how large or small the funeral is.
Ami Dokli who is the leader told BBC Africa that “Some people don’t know how to cry. Some people, when they lost their relatives, they don’t know how to talk and cry. My name is Ami Dokli, I’m a funeral contractor. People come in to pick me to go to their funerals to cry for them. We are all widows. After our husbands died, we decided to come together to help those who cannot cry, cry. So, if we are not there, it will not go on well with them. Some funerals are big funerals. Some are normal so whenever you’ve invited us and we come in and we notice how big the funeral is, is how we charge. It’s a normal thing. We will all die one day” .
She further explain that, it is a normal practice in most part of Africa , that there are even some case were it happen in some advance country counties Taiwan
