A chilling death in a cave

In 2009, 26-year-old John Edward Jones and friends wanted to explore the 430 meter-long cave in America called Nutty Putty. John intended to visit an area called the birth canal and yet undiscovered. Then he accidentally enters an unmapped passage that he believed was a canal alone and starts crawling through a very narrow cave.

After a while, he wants to go back, but he keeps moving forward because he couldn’t find a wide space to go back. When he reached the end of the cave, he couldn’t find a place to turn. The tunnel measured 25 x 46 cm and was 120 meters away from the cave entrance. Relatives who haven’t heard from them for a while are calling for help to save John. A team of about 100 people will be mobilized to rescue him, but they will realize they’re in a race against time when they learn John’s position. John was almost upside down waiting to be rescued and his heart was struggling to pump blood to the rest of his body.

Unable to move fast enough due to the narrowness of the tunnel, the rescue team reveals that John died 27 hours after suffering a heart attack due to his position stuck shortly after midnight. Rescue crews say trying to retrieve his body would be too dangerous and come to an agreement to permanently close the cave and seal the body inside in memory of John. Explosives were used to knock down the ceiling near John’s body and the entrance hole was filled with concrete to prevent further access. His body has been standing in the cave for 15 years.
