VIDEO: A Progressive Debunks John Oliver's Venezuela Episode

My name is Mike Prysner and I'm a journalist who travelled to Venezuela in 2017 during the height of the opposition protests to report on the country's economic crisis and more.

When I saw the episode by John Oliver on HBO's "Last Week Tonight," I was shocked by the sheer number of misrepresentations, distortions and flat-out falsehoods.

In this video response go confront John Oliver's points with facts and historical context, and use my experiences to help paint a more accurate picture of a country targeted for regime change by the US government.
