And the blame for losing good jobs goes to.........................

China, Politicians, Unions, Lazy work force ?

Do you ever look at something you purchase and see exactly where it came from? Have you thought about what it would take to manufacture something you bought? How much would it cost you to make it? One hundred of them? A thousand of them? A million of them? If you are like most people, you haven't.

I have owned many businesses and have made widgets and I can tell you first hand it is not easy! The stress from competition, employees, regulations, paperwork, timelines, and just making ends meet is really mind boggling.

50 years ago America ran supreme in manufacturing. We were literally the best at almost everything. "American made" really meant something all over the world. We had an innovative spirit, and pride in what we made. For a number of reasons, that has changed immensely over the years.

Manufacturing is a major economic pillar for a nation, it creates good paying jobs and creates a sense of pride for people to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Throughout history, nations who have dominated in manufacturing, have prospered the most. Most products we see in the U.S. today, are made in China. It is not a coincidence that the United State's biggest lender is China. This brings a lot of "hate" towards China from the U.S.

But I would ask........

Do our citizens even want these jobs if we "brought them back"?

Do we as consumers want to pay twice as much for something "Made in the U.S.A?"

Should we be thankful to them for enriching our lives with all these inexpensive products?

Would like to hear your thoughts. Please resteem to get this around.

Thanks

It's just some critical problem in the mindset of the people and their greed. I mean look at the people around everywhere, look what they are buying, begin with their food...

Agree whole hearted....simple questions about what/why...I wish we could come together and think as a whole.....upvoted

Well my mate, i hope the humanity will take this step, maybe we both are living in the most interesting century overall.. We will see, if there will be some kind of a golden age. Gn8

Those are really good questions and i would like to know that myself XD Good post, i will resteem it!

FOLLOWING YOU. mind-opening views, opinions and questions there. Usa and china must surely mend and strengthen their relationships in that area

Nice to meet you Patrick...upvoted

You are welcome. Well appreciated indeed

I believe it's good as it is. I mean just like you said, nobody would be happy to pay much more for something just because it's made in the U.S.A

An interesting way of thinking. I'm interested in answers on your questions. Resteemed

Guys, what about products quality? Is it the same? From USA and China? I think USA has better in average.

China Suppressed it's Dollars for years and Due to Communism, they are able to force their population to work for Peanuts. Made in the U.S.A. would be much much more expensive, but would last much longer.. be made from healthier and safer composites and probably function better. I think we should be thankful for everything we receive or purchase. I think China and other poorer nations have benefited greatly from Americans purchasing their Cheap goods but with Technology growing so fast, it may make more sense to start producing and manufacturing more at Home to Balance Trade and to bring higher wages to the lower paying menial jobs.

I don't think it's so much "do people want these jobs?" as "can we afford to pay our minimum wage and more to people doing these jobs?" I'm not from the US, I'm a Brit, but similar factors apply to our economies. Amongst these are a suicidal failure to protect our home industries from all sorts of nefarious, home-grown behaviours such as carpet-bagging and asset stripping in the 80s. Mainland EU has done a much better job of protecting its own workers' jobs while still benefiting from cheap Chinese products. How? By developing investment models for small businesses and start-ups that work, and don't demand unrealistic returns in short time scales, and by focusing on high-quality product, allowing the Chinese to develop their quality over time. By which I mean, allowing the Chinese to produce high-volume, low margin products. The profits from which they then use to purchase, for example, Mercedes cars... In time this will even out, and there will be a return of those jobs that have not been forever replaced by machines, as the cost of transportation together with rising wages in the low-wage economies of not just China, but the rest of the developing world economies, approach our wages. Which will, in the meantime, stagnate. As they have been doing for most of the past 40 years. It could also be that neo-liberal policies are actually misguided and counter-productive, but that's a discussion for another day! :)

Well put.

I've read it as Unicorns. That's the sign when it's time to go to bed :(

China, Politicians, Unions, Lazy work force ?

I never thought about this before, hmm...
But don't they have to pay taxes for exporting and selling products in your country? I wonder how does all this work.

Nation creates good paying jobs and creates a sense of pride for people to be a part of something bigger than themselves.

That's true!)

Yeah, the situation is a little crazy.
