Wonder How to Test Jitter quickly

in #jitterlast year

Looking for how to test jitter?
I bet you've been frustrated more than once by the intermittent sound of poor-quality streaming or VoIP calls.
This annoying problem can be attributed to high network jitter.
So what could cause jitter? How to test and reduce it?
Let's explore the truth!
What is jitter in speed testing?
Jitter in speed testing is a component of delay, which refers to the degree of change in delay when performing a large number of jitter ping test.
Usually measured in milliseconds (ms).
Network jitter is caused by factors such as network congestion, interference, and routing changes.
Wired connections (cable, fiber optic, DSL) always have lower latency than wireless connections (satellite, LTE, and Wi-Fi).
What caused the shaking?
Network jitter can be attributed to several factors. Here are some of the main ones:
network congestion
Poor hardware performance.
Unstable connections
Network capacity
Insufficient network bandwidth
The impact of shaking
Jitter can cause inconsistencies, which can affect connection quality and data transmission speed.
Therefore, it will hurt all real-time communication, such as video conferencing, VoIP call quality, video streaming, online gaming, etc.
Specifically, high levels of network jitter may lead to connection issues, including dropped cables, echoes, or unstable audio.
Web browsing is not particularly affected by response time and its changes.
However, if you need real-time data, the jitter ping test is an important indicator of connection quality.
Please refer to | What is the difference between latency and ping?
What is a good jitter speed?
To ensure the normal operation of the video stream, the jitter should be less than 30 milliseconds.
If the received jitter exceeds this value, it may start to relax, leading to packet loss and audio quality issues.
Packet loss shall not exceed 1%, and network latency shall not exceed 150ms.
You can run a ping jitter test to evaluate whether the jitter is acceptable or good.
Calculate the average and minimum round-trip time for several data packets.
How to test jitter?
Using Jitter Testing Tools
You can use the DSLReports utility to run jitter tests.
Step 1: Go to the website reports. com/tools/ping test and click on the "Go" button.
Step 2: The test will collect thousands of ping readings from servers around the world.
This should only take a few minutes, but if your network connection is very slow, it may take longer.
After the ping and jitter tests are completed, it will provide a graphical description of the ping test in the upper left corner of the screen.
There is also a test chart on the right side of the screen, and there is a score at the bottom left of the screen.
A+level priority, which means very low latency and jitter. The minimum delay measured between the computer and the server is listed in the minimum column.
The next column is the packet delay variation (+PDV), which is the difference between jitter or average delay and minimum delay.
Ideally, the number of PDVs should be as low as possible.
This will prevent stuttering during delayed voice transmission during online games, video conference calls, and VoIP interactions.
