Crystals, Keys, and Gears

in #jewelry6 years ago (edited)

I plan to take a bit of a break from my recent frequent jewelry posts, but here is one last hurrah before that occurs. Let me know what you think in the comments below!

This pair of earrings was made with a gold head pin with a decorative pattern. It was threaded through a mottled blue glass bead, a Swarovski crystal, and a black glass bead. Then I formed a loop and connected each one to an ear hook with a jump ring. Note that the quantity of real elemental gold here ranges somewhere between negligible and nil.

Antiqued brass eye pins are each threaded through a black glass bead, a Swarovski crystals, a floral pattern glass bead, another Swarovski crystal, and a final black glass bead. After another eye was formed with round nose pliers, jump rings were used to attach key-shaped charms at one end and ear hooks at the other.

This pair uses a stainless steel head pin. It was stacked with a bead cap, a glass faux pearl, a Swarovski crystal-encrusted spacer, a blue glass bead, a metal spacer bead, a blue Swarovski crystal, and a final metal spacer bead. Then a eye was formed with round nose pliers, and jump rings were used to attach ear hooks.

This simpler set starts like the previous earrings with a head pin and bead cap. However, it continued with a purple glass bead, another cap, and a small white glass faux pearl. After forming an eye, I decided to add my last spiral leaf charms along with the ear hooks on the jump rings.

This leather cord necklace bears a pendant made from a glass bead, a key charm, and a feather charm. Everything metal has an antique brass finish.

Here, a braided black leather cord bears a pendant made from cogs and a key. While not in the image, the cord is connected with a matching brass finish lobster claw clasp.

This larger pendant is made from a variety of gear-shaped findings, and blends a silver finish majority with a bronze finish accents. I also added a few clock hands. The bail connects through a small black bead to get a better bearing surface and protect the joint inside.

I am tempted to add an acrylic eye to the center of the front bronze gear, but have not done so yet. What do you think, readers?

A pre-manufactured watch pendant is embellished with matte gray clock hands and suspended from a bead and gear, which is then in turn suspended from a dull gray chain The blue-green bead offers a colorful accent to the subdued metallic colors in the rest of the piece.

That's pretty cool-- I especially like the steampunkish influence. We have some steampunk inspired jewelry at our gallery, and it has been pretty popular.

I like a more subtle steampunk aesthetic myself, but there is still a certain appeal to "ZOMG! GEARS EVERYWHERE!"

Our wee town is home to the Brass Screw Confederacy's annual festival every June... people around here pretty go ape over anything with gears, clock faces and equipment dials. Granted, it is a pretty cool festival... couple of thousand people, most of them "in character."

I may need to meander thataway when the occasion is nigh.

Those gear pendants at the end are very awesome! For whatever reason I just enjoy the detail and design of them. The colors and complex designs have an allure to the eyes.

Looking good! The gears are a super cool idea.

I am drooling over the cogs and gear necklaces!

Love them!!
Im not super into steampunk stuff, but the steampunk stuff you made is really cool!

I know not everyone is into clockwork jewelry, so that is why I make a lot that is not really steampunk too.

It's really unique and beautiful jewelry that you have shared. I really appreciate your work.
Your blog is very useful and attractive.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful jewelry with us.
