Mesmerizing Purple Gemstones Found in Jewelry Stores

in #jewelry6 years ago

Since ancient time purple color in jewelry symbolized passion, wealth, power, respect, spiritual goals and leadership. Royalty, kinds and queens wore purple jewelry in order to show of their social status believing that this color can enhance their wisdom, creativity and strength. Compared to other gems, purple ones are rarer and not that commonly found in nature.

Nowadays, people look for colorful gemstones more than ever. We see rise of interest for many interesting gems like pink and purple being searched even more than usual red, blue and green gems. Purple gemstones come in many different shades ranging from very light colored to deep specimens. There are many gems found in jewelry stores like diamonds, amethyst, sapphires, fluorite, jade, tourmaline, sugilite, spinel and so on.  You can find much more information about gems and jewelry pieces found in stores by checking this page. Of course, I will share here few interesting gemstones that I find interesting.

Purple Diamonds

Diamond is precious gemstone found in many different colors and shades. Colored diamonds are often much more expensive and sought-after. Purple diamonds come in many shades and more vivid the color is, their price is much bigger. Most beautiful specimens with vivid color can cost so much that only collectors and extremely wealthy people can afford them.

Purple Sapphires

Similarly to pink gemstones that I mentioned in previous article, purple sapphires are uncommon but can be found in nature. They are cheaper compared to diamonds but also great substitution for them when bought as engagement rings or other jewelry. With Mohs rating of 9, sapphires should last for a long time. In general, this gem is not treated in any way due to its great coloring. For its brilliance and amazing durability people often choose to purchase it instead of diamonds and other gems that are softer and not that rare.

Purple Amethyst

When it comes to purple gemstones, purple amethyst is probably most common one in jewelry. Main reasons for that are its abundance since it is often found in nature. Being fairly durable with rating of 7 on Mohs scale of hardness, it is often choice for making jewelry. Don't be fulled by its low price but thank for that since amethyst was prized as much as diamonds and sapphires in the past. This gem comes in all possible shades of purple. Most expensive pieces come in deep colors and they are considered as best.

Purple Sugilite

Subilite is not mainstream and very popular gemstone mainly because it is very rare and discovered mainly in Japan. It was found also in other places but it is not that abundant. Because of that, this gemstone is not that common in jewelry. Purple sugilite comes in many shades, from light ones to deep dark color. This gem also comes with interesting patterns since it contains veins or patches that create amazing designs. Since it has medium durability, if you buy it make sure to pay a bit of attention because it can get damaged.

Purple Jasper

Although this gemstone is commonly found as red gem, it can be found in purple color in nature as well. This gem also comes with mesmerizing inclusions and all kinds of patterns inside it. Because of that, purple jasper is very interesting and highly desirable. Due to its compact nature, even though it comes with score of 6-7 on Mohs scale, this stone can last a long time without being damaged.

Gemstones come in all possible colors. Some of them are more popular than others but all of them have something in common - they look beautiful. Most interesting pieces come paired with white metals since they give those stones contemporary look. Used with white metals, purple gems stand out even more.
