Jesus is the messiah: I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever. Psalm 45:17

The Psalm 45 is a psalm with different interpretations. The main reason for the song is the marriage of a king of Israel with a foreign princess, perhaps this King has been King Solomon, but in the song it is not affirmed. The Psalm begins with a praise to the King for his beatitude, and exalting his excellencies and the grace received from God.
The Psalm tells us that the King is a king because he rules in the name of truth, justice, and God, without this the King ceases to be such to become a tyrant. The monarchy seeks the common good, but the tyranny only the good of the ruler.
Thus begins in the Psalm the praise of the King:
"You are the most excellent of men
and your lips have been anointed with grace,
since God has blessed you forever.
Gird your sword on your side, your mighty one;
clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.
In your majesty ride forth victoriously
in the cause of truth, humility and justice;
let your right hand achieve awesome deeds" Psalm 45:2-4.
A king also tells us the Psalm must base all his actions on the law of God, because only in this way can the King receive the blessings to rule with a long life:
"Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy" Psalm 45:6-7.
Then the Psalm ends by exclaiming about the bliss and beauty of the princess.
But also the Psalm has another very interesting interpretation, because the Apostle Paul mentioned this Psalm in his epistle to the Hebrews. For Paul, this King mentioned in the Psalm is the Lord Jesus himself, and the princess who becomes his wife, the Church.
For Paul this psalm shows us Jesus as the redeeming messiah prophesied in the scriptures.
That is why the end of the Psalm is interpreted by christians with a clear messianic meaning. At the end of it, the song prophetized that Jesus came into the world with the mission of establishing an eternal Kingdom that will not be destroyed or end:
"I will perpetuate your memory through all generations;
therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever" Psalm 45:17.
