Christian mystery: This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way. Acts 1:11
The Book of Acts of the Apostles begins telling us about the mystery of Jesus, his divinity, death, and resurrection, and the saving action of the holy spirit.
The Book of Acts tells us that many disciples doubted of the resurrection of Jesus, that is why the Lord appeared to the disciples to strengthen them in the new faith, and he spoke to them about the doctrine of the Kingdom of God, the domain or empire of the divine perfections; and Jesus taught them especially about the holy spirit, the educator par excellence, the spiritual help that should come to the disciples after his definitive departure to heaven: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit" Acts 1:4-5.
It was then that the disciples asked the teacher: "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" Acts 1:6.
And so they were told about a very important truth for every christian, the Lord had to return, but his return would be unforeseen and mysterious: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority" Acts 1:7. Hope in an eschatological sense should materialize in the near future.
And so the Book of Acts tells us, Jesus was definitively elevated to the spiritual world. But it was at that moment that the disciples were warned:
"´Men of Galilee,´ they said, ´why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.´" Acts 1:11.
With this story closes a time, the presence of the son of man on earth, and begins another with the action of the spirit of wisdom among men, the church would be born later with the arrival of the christian Pentecost.
