"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth", said Jesus in Matthew 5:5. Exegesis, meaning and commentary of the bible verse

Jesus teach us about the beatitude of meekness in Matthew 5:5: "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth".
Being meek means to be patient, long suffering, gentle. The meekness or gentleness is a fruit of the spirit: "But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." Galatians 5:22-23.
The patience is also a characteristic of the charity: "love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always persevere." 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
Through patience, meekness we endure the difficulties of life with hope, and this responds to the spiritual gift of fear of the lord. The beatitudes are related to the spiritual gifts. For every spiritual gifts there is a beatitude. The beatitude of Matthew 5:5 is the beatitude of the fear of the lord.
An example of this beatitude is Job, in the old testament, who endures all the test that God sent him. Another example is the father of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32). All who fear god are rewarded teach Jesus, the old testament explains this in another way: "happiness is for those who fear God", Ecclesiastes 8:12

By the law of the harvest (law of the return), all the beatitudes have a reward, a prize. All the beatitudes have a "for". The beatitudes promise, correct, teach, give balance, reward. Punish the error and reward the hit.
This beatitude of Mattthew has a special prize: "inherit the earth". In the times of Jesus there where two lifestyles: the nomadic life and the settled life. The settled life, to own the land, means secure life.
The award of the fear of the lord is the secure life, the security in God, the adult faith: " be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes" Psalm 37:7.
