Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem is a matter of celebration for them. On the other hand, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas described it as "the biggest blow of the century" on Middle East peace efforts.
In September last year, ignoring the calls of many ally countries including France, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and recognizing the capital of Israel, Donald Trump ordered the transfer of the embassy. The Palestinians broke out in the proclamation in his declaration. After several months of bloody clashes, many Palestinian people lost their lives in Israeli forces.
Israel, Palestinians, both Muslims, Christians and Jews want the holy city Jerusalem as the capital. Israel has always been claiming Jerusalem as their capital. On the other hand, the Israeli occupation of the Arab-Israeli war in 1967, Palestinian leaders want East Jerusalem to be the capital of the future Palestinian state.
The issue of Jerusalem lies in the center of the Israel-Palestine conflict for decades. Israeli sovereignty over the holy city is not internationally recognized. According to the Israel-Palestine Treaty of 1993, the identification of Jerusalem's identity will be resolved in the peace talks.
