My own experience in China: Supernatural Writing Contest (SWC)
In responding to jerrybanfield's supernatural writing contest, I began to recall many things happened on me or people around me, then I found there were so many events occurred in our normal life that cannot be explained by modern science. These are not stories, they're truth based on my own experience.
A blind fortune teller
In China, there was a sort of blind person who can tell people's future if you tell them your birthday. When I was a child, there came a blind person sitting in my neighbor's home and did fortune telling for people around him. According to my memories, he made two prophecies.
Prophecy one: he said to one of the women who is my father's colleague, that her husband will be in prison for four years and this will happen within 2 years. The woman was very angry and jumped out. Then people around him whispered, "This is full crap, you deserve a slap in your face!" However, he insisted this would happen. This proved to be true only after one year, the woman's husband was put into jail due to corruption and sentenced four years there.
Prophecy two: he told my father that my Grandpa will pass away after 10 years. Then after 5 years, my father received a telegram from his niece, it said, 'Dad died, come back soon'. He was so shocked and immediately took one or two days to go home from one province to another. However, when he reached home, he found out that it was his niece's dad instead of his. Before that, all my families were still holding belief in the blind man's words, we were quite doubtful about my Grandpa's death news at that time. After another 5 years, my Grandpa passed away in a peaceful night without any pain.
The story of my Grandpa in law
My Grandpa in law was a soldier and he was a battalion commander in red army ( now is called 'People's liberation army ). There were two stories about him, one is about his Official title, another is about my Grandma in law's death age.
When my Grandpa in law was young, China was invaded by Japanese army. To fight against Japanese invaders, many young people in China joined army. Before he decided to join the red army, a fortune teller spoke to him that he can only win a battalion commander as far as he could, there was no way to achieve higher official title. My Grandpa in law was a very brave and he fought dauntlessly in the battlefield. He often took a military kettle with him, it was not filled with water, but liquor! However, he was not promoted further in his title due to his bad temper, he once overthrew a table while arguing with his direct lead officer! There were also some other red army officers who had worse temper, but got promoted, I think this might not only due to the temper, but also because of knowledge, my Grandpa in law didn't have any chance to go to a school in his childhood, which is a pity for him.
My Grandpa got hurt in his back due to the civil war between Communist Party and Nationalist Party. He passed at the age of 70s, before that, he told us that my Grandma in law would die at the age of 64. This horrified my Grandma in law, since she experienced some unexplained things with my Grandpa in law and she didn't want to die so early. In order to live longer, she skipped that age if asked how old she was. She believed this would fake out the God of Death. She died at the age of 64 due to cancer and still did not escape from her destiny. However, how could my Grandpa in law know the exact age of his wife's death still remains a mystery to us.
The power of mirror
If you have ever gone to China, and walked in some small towns, you might notice that there were mirrors hanging high above their front doors. Do you know why? In Chinese culture, mirror can reflect light thus it can bounce back any negative power. Some Chinese people believe that there are many evil energy everywhere along roads and streets outside, so they used a mirror high above their doors to prevent evil spirits entering their home. There are many restrictions in Feng Shui on how to place a mirror inside your room. If you place a mirror in the wrong place, you'll get much trouble!
I once lived in an apartment in Shanghai, I had a big mirror right beside my bed. During those time, I often got illness, firstly, I got a high fever due to exposed too much to the air condition. Then I got sick again for some unknown reasons; Finally, I got Urinary stone because I was too busy on the day and didn't have a chance to intake any water, therefore, a small sand was left some place inside my body and I felt so painful that I wanted to die. My parents came to Shanghai to take care of me. My father felt uncomfortable at the first glance of the mirror beside my bed. He told me that that mirror might be the cause of my illness one after another. The mirror could reflect all dark energy into my body and made me sick. We took off the mirror and hid it behind the room door. After that, I didn't have any issue yet.

That’s why I don’t go to fortune teller. Sometimes it’s scary to be told your future.
And the mirror part, scary too.
I don't dare to see a fortune teller either, however, nowadays, there are few real competent fortune-teller, most are cheaters.
I still care about the position of mirror in my current home.
Thank you very much @chenlocus for writing this story about the premonitions that came true and explaining about the mirror in Chinese culture. I sent 12 STEEM directly to your account for your participation in the SWC.
Thanks, Mate.
