This is the reason i double and triple check everything when working on cars... i have been known to put the engine back together after service or mods... and then pull it all back down because im super OCD about getting into a terrible situation.

The last time i stripped my turbo front housing and put it back together i checked the wheel could free spin a hand full of times after putting it back together, then another handful of times as the intercooler piping was put together... and just before starting the car i pulled the pipe to the turbo off one last time and checked it again.

Honestly, im uncertain as to how one would go about getting a ring spanner INSIDE the turbo like this... like how the hell do you forget you put a spanner in the pipework, if it fell into the pipework would it not make a sound? It aint a tree in the forest when no one is around, lolz.

But one thing i can tell you is that if you lose a spanner or some kinda bolt removing tool its more than likely going to be a 10mm.... the slippery little suckers always go missing and it seems like they teleport into the turbo, lol.

When its all said and done, working on your own car can be a rewarding experience and save you some hard earned cash, however, being careless on the job could have you spending much more than you would have if you paid someone to do the job. Yes accidents happen, but we must be vigilant in our quest for HP/KW and make sure we consistently check our work as well as focus when we work on our vehicles.

The turbo is clearly going to need some work or replacing, but the real danger here is to the engine itself. With shards of metal flying around in the intake and intercooler piping, it no far stretch of the imagination that they would end up in the engine causing major issues. Yes there is a couple of "filtration systems" for these metal shards and shavings to get through, like the intercooler and throttle body, but make no mistake.... where they are headed, is the engine.

Thats one way to high flow your turbo and bore out your engine

found the 10mm at least :P
