in #jazz6 years ago (edited)

Here is a cool jazz performance of the standard 'The Shadow of Your smile,' as recorded by Ron Carter. This song is off his album 'The Bass and I.' This well known standard was written by Johnny Mandel and Paul Francis Webster and was featured in the 1965 film, ' The Sandpiper'. the song later receive a Grammy for best song of the year. Below is a few notes about him. On a side note this is one of the songs from my piano repertoire that I play from memory.

Ron Carter (born May 4, 1937) is an American jazz double-bassist. His appearances on over 2,500 albums make him one of the most-recorded bassists in jazz history, along with Milt Hinton, Ray Brown and Leroy Vinnegar. Carter is also an acclaimed cellist who has recorded numerous times on that instrument.

Enjoy a bubbly and the mood music of Ron Carter as he plays 'The Shadow of Your Smile.' The recording is about 7 minutes of great jazz.
