Bounty 5 STEEM: ? about sending funds on Jaxx

in #jaxx7 years ago

So I just received some funds on my jaxx wallet (btc) and had 1 confirmation. I then tried to send them to another address, but nothing happened.

My guess is that Jaxx probably will want to wait for 6 confirmations before allowing the sending of the funds again.

However I was not able to find anything that would explain this in the help section. Wondering if this was a bug or a feature since there was no error message or explanation of why nothing happened.

Literally nothing happens when I clicked on the send button.

I will setup a 5 steem bounty for good answers that explains what is going on....

A bounty of 5.000 STEEM has been set on this post by @knircky! You can read how they work here.

The obvious question first.

Does it still only show one confirmation? If so, wait a bit longer to see, if the confirmations come through.

The other way to solver this, is simply to reset the cache. For this you need to back up your wallet and then reset.

Steps below. This should clear up any memory errors and possibly make your BTC visible. I have done it before, so nothing to worry about, but I know it can be a sensitive subject, so instead of me telling you what to do, you can do a quick search on how to reset the cache on Jaxx. It is simple

Good luck

it now worked, so i am guessing my initial idea that it needed 6 blocks may be the thing?

Yea most likely. Sometimes it takes a lot longer to get conformations. If you have trouble again, try and do the cache reset. It has helped me a few times when the wallet has been buggy and now showed all of my funds.

Thank you. I was not aware of this feature.

I don't have enough knowledge to solve this. Sorry for that.

Sorry my friend @knircky also can not give input for this matter. maybe here many people can answer it.

Thank you @steem-bounty and community.

Your transactions can get dropped from the memory pool if there is a lot of congestion on the blockchain network. When a transaction gets dropped from the "mempool", the funds will be refunded to the originating address. I.e if you transacted BTC from your Jaxx wallet to another wallet and it fails, your funds will return to your Jaxx wallet.

Your transactions could fail due to other reasons reasons:
  • You have firewall, Tor or VPN enabled. These services may interrupt information from being relayed to the blockchain. Please try disabling them and try again.

  • You are not connected to a strong WiFi network. If you're on a public network or a restricted wireless network (WiFi at work, WiFi in public, etc.), you may need to switch to a stronger, private network or your cellular data.

  • You reached the maximum deposit limit (for ShapeShift transactions). If your ShapeShift transactions are failing, you may have exceeded your deposit limit for the day.

In the case of your transaction getting dropped from the mempool, you can identify that this is the case by checking the clicking on the transaction hash found under the Transaction ID in your Transaction History to see whether the transaction exists on a block explorer. If the transaction hash cannot be found, your transaction likely got dropped from the mempool:

  • Please Reset Jaxx Cache if your transaction is still recorded in the Transaction History in order to bring the funds back. Please make sure you have your 12-word Backup Phrase written down prior to doing so. If your transaction is still recorded and your funds haven't returned to you, your transaction may be in queue to be picked up by miners.
Please keep in mind that it does take up to 72 hours for your transaction to be fully dropped from the mempool.

You can always check whether your transaction has gone through or not by copying and pasting the public address you sent your funds from on a block explorer to verify whether your funds have been withdrawn from your wallet.

Please try and pair to another platform to see whether this is a cross-platform issue.

That's not quite my issue.

My issue is the transaction does not get send to the network by jaxx and i dont know why. This happened on ios and on windows.

If you have currency in your Jaxx wallet and wish to send it to someone else, you'll need to have their address of the same currency (ex. if you are planning on sending Dash to someone, make sure you are sending it to their Dash address).

If the sender has provided a QR code to scan, select the Camera button to scan it

Then specify the amount (in currency type or cash) and select Send.

If you are using Jaxx on a non-mobile device, you'll need to paste in the address manually. Browser-extension versions of Jaxx scan web pages for valid bitcoin addresses and will list them in-app for your convenience.
If the sender is determining the amount being sent, all they have to do is specify an amount and scan your public key's QR code, as displayed on the main Jaxx screen. Alternately, they can use the address displayed on your Jaxx screen (under "Your Current [Currency] Address")

Jaxx also enables you to generate a Payment Request QR code to request a specific amount of cash or bitcoin/ether. To do so:

  1. Select Receive at the top left of the main Jaxx display.

  2. Select whether you want the amount to be in the currency type or the default fiat currency of your choice.

  3. Enter the requested amount into the text field.

  4. Select Generate.

Yes all this i am aware of. Question is: i press sent and nothing happens. Why? could it be that my btc need to be confirmed for 6 blocks before i can sent them?

Congratulations! Your submission earned you 0.057 STEEM from this bounty. You have received 0.000 STEEM from the creator of the bounty and 0.057 STEEM from the community!

Hmm....I am not that conversant in regard to you dilemma here, @knircky!

I wish i could help. Hope someone pronto comes to your rescue!

I'm pretty sure most coins need 6 transactions to be"unlocked" from a wallet. Works pretty much the same as an exchange would do.

You should receive a transaction confirmation once it reaches 6+ blocks

Is the button active when you press it? Maybe a web plugin is missing from your browser, have you tried another?

Yes which is what was weird.
