History of Java?
James Gosling, Mike Sheridan, and Patrick Naughton started the Java Language Project in June 1991. Initially Java language was called "oak". This name is kept in conformity with the oak tree outside James Gosling's office. Then it was named "Green" and finally java was changed to "java" in conformity with coffee. In 1995, Sun Microsystems released Java-1.0. Their principles were "Write once, run anywhere ".
