I am glad that you and your older son still keeping this tradition of recycling up. It is interesting to have such automatic machine for recycling. In Germany there are only for plastic bottles, cans and beer glasses where you get refund. But for other stuff you just collect them and give at such recycling point for free. Mayby on some stage we will also have the same system like in Japan. I hope you son really enjoyed it :)
Recycling machine in the photo is sometimes found in Japan. Only plastic bottles, steel cans and aluminum cans can be collected in this machine, and there is a place to put used paper outside the store. We are also able to put Styrofoam trays and milk packs, but there is no refund for them.
My son is very happy to get chocolate and he wants to continue this recycling activity :)
