Cactus, watch out for its thorns.....

The Rebutia:

This photo I took at my mother's house and the plant is 30 years since I gave it. It is a Rebutia, a genus of the Cactaceae family, originally from Bolivia and Argentina, but has adapted very well to other countries in South America. They are usually small, green in color and globular: The funny thing is that they produce red flowers that are larger in relation to the body of the cactus.

The Cereus:

These photographs I took in the Botanical Garden and correspond to a species of cactus called Cereus hildmannianus originating in South America. Its distribution is very wide and includes Venezuela, Brazil, Paraguay, Colombia, Uruguay and Argentina.

The characteristic of this variety is the distortion presented by its ribs. The plant grows into a tight pile of twisted stems that catch my eye. In addition its height can reach more than 9 meters and of width it extends up to 5 meters in diameter.
