メルボルンと大阪市は姉妹都市・ジンジャーブレッド大阪城 ～ Gingerbread Osaka Castle

皆さん、こんにちは。毎年、メルボルンの有名なケータリング・カンパニーのシェフたちが「ジンジャーブレッド・ビレッジ」を2ヶ月間かけて作成し、その展示会がクリスマス前に行われたので、行ってきました。この展示会は無料ですが、１ドルか２ドルの寄付金を受け付けています。その寄付金はメルボルンにある小児専門病院「ロイヤルチルドレン・ホスピタル」に全額寄付されます。

We visited an annual Christmas event ''Gingerbread Village'' that was held in Melbourne city. Entry is free, but gold coin donation is appreciated.
The aim for holding Gingerbread Village is to raise money over for helping children fight off serious illnesses at Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.

ちなみにジンジャーブレッドとは、欧州の国で主にクリスマス時期に食べられる生姜入りのクッキーです。ジンジャーパウダー、シナモンパウダーなどほんのりスパイスを効かせた生地に、ハチミツと砂糖を加えた素朴な味わいで、私の子供たちも大好きな焼き菓子です。

今年の「ジンジャーブレッド・ビレッジ」の展示会では、初の国外の建造物として大阪城がジンジャーブレッドとアイシングで作成、展示されました。

というのも、私の住んでいるメルボルン市は大阪市と姉妹都市です。1978年に姉妹都市の提携を結びました。それ以降、両都市間にある企業は貿易や投資の機会を促進してきました。
今年、姉妹都市提携40周年を記念して、3月にメルボルンの代表団が大阪市を訪問、12月に大阪市の代表団がメルボルンを訪問して、両都市間の友好を深めました。

This year Melbourne and Osaka celebrate the 40th anniversary of sister city relations. Melbourne's sister city relationship with Osaka, Japan encourages trade and investment opportunities for businesses in both cities for 4 decades.

The 40th anniversary has been marked by a delegation from Melbourne visiting Osaka in March, and a delegation from Osaka visiting Melbourne in December, underscoring the closeness of their ties.

The Osaka Castle often is thought as a historic and iconic structure in Osaka, has formed an important addition to the display featuring Melbourne's landmark buildings in this year's Gingerbread Village.

この大阪城の展示物を見るために、なんと1時間半も列に並びました。
大阪城のお堀はジンジャーブレッド (クッキー )で作られていて、屋根や天守閣はアイシングで作られています。この展示品はすべて食べられるんですよ。
アイシングが溶けないようにとの配慮からか、展示してある部屋の照明を少し暗くしているので、写真を綺麗に撮れませんでしたw

We queued as long as 1 hour and a half to see the displays of Gingerbread Village. The Osaka castle moats are made with gingerbread, roof tiles and the castle tower are made with tons of icing.
Lighting was dim so that icing could still be visible without having it to melt. It was a bit difficult to take nice shots.

大阪城のすぐ傍にはなぜか鳥居が。
There is a Torii gate in the garden just beside the castle.

大阪城公園では相撲の取り組みが行われています。これらのミニチュアの人形は全てマジパンで作られています。
Sumo match is being held in the Osaka Castle park. All the miniature dolls are made of marzipan.

ピクニックをしている家族もいます。巻き寿司を食べていますね。
We can see a family who is having a picnic in the park. They are having lunch with Sushi rolls and a hotdog.

たくさんの人が大阪城を見て写真を撮っていました。日本の建造物がこのような形で紹介されるのはとても嬉しく思いました。
他にもメルボルン市内の有名な建造物が展示されていましたので、次の投稿でご紹介したいと思います。
