珍しい鳥居を発見！・I found an interesting Torii gate!

みなさま、こんにちは！　先日、広島県廿日市のゆめタウンという大型ショッピングセンターをうろついていたら、珍しい鳥居を発見しました。紹介したいと思います。広島県立宮島工業高等学校の方による2017年度の卒業制作だそうです。鮮やかなオレンジ色がとっても綺麗です。

この鳥居を作成するに至った説明が書いてありましたが、写真では見えにくいのでここに書いておきます。

「廿日市をお客様にPRでき、店内の撮影スポットになるような作品を一緒に作成しませんか」というゆめタウン廿日市支配人との、立ち話ですべてはスタートしました。廿日市市役所の農林水産課の職員さんや、廿日市消防局本部の方に指導いただきながら2017年、資材の調達も完了し本格的に作成が始まりました。今まで扱ったことのない大きさの木材に苦戦しながらも建築科の8人のメンバーはもちろん、他の生徒が手伝ってくれたり、他の科の教室を貸してもらったりして、「ゆめタウン廿日市に立派な鳥居を作る！」という取り組みは気が付けば学校全体を巻き込んで大きな取り組みになっていました。2018年2月、卒業を目前に控え、ゆめタウン廿日市に鳥居の設置を行いました。たくさんの方に協力いただきながら、この鳥居が完成しました。

この鳥居制作にかかわったすべての方に感謝申し上げます。

上記の内容から、ほんとうにみんなで協力して作り上げたんだなぁ、と微笑ましい気持ちになりました。みんなで協力してひとつの物を作るというのは一生の思い出になりますよね。しかも、学校だけではなく、ゆめタウンの支配人をはじめ、市役所や消防局の方まで協力してくださったのは、素晴らしい経験になったと思います。

Hi. Everybody! The other day, I found an interesting Torii gate by chance while window shopping in a large-sized shopping mall called Youmetown, which is located in Hatukaich Hiroshima prefecture. Today, I will introduce it. I heard that it is a final project by Hiroshima Kougyo high school students in 2017. The clear color of orange is awesome!

The sigh says how they came to build this large Torii. My picture is too small to read it, so, I wrote it here.

Everything started from stand-talking with a director of Youmetown. The content of stand-taking is like this. “Why don’t you make a work so that we can promote Hatukaichi area and customers can enjoy taking pictures?” The director said. Engaging the tutelage of staffs working at the department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries at Hatukaichi city hall and at Hatukaichi Fire-Defense Headquarters, we got materials in 2017, and we started to make a Torii in earnest. We have struggled to handle large lumbers that we have never handled. All of architecture course’s 8 members and then other students helped us. Other course’s students let us use their classroom. Our consciousness “we will make a great Torii in Youmetown!” had an entire school involved, and became a bigger plan. In February 2018, with the graduation just before us, we put the Torii gate in Hatukaichi branch of Youmetown. With the aid of many people, we brought this Torii to completion.

We appreciate all people involved in production of the Torii.

This story made me feel heartwarming. I thought that they cooperated to make one thing all together. I’m sure that making something with friends would become the memory of a lifetime. I think that they had a nice experience because not only a director of Youmetown but also staffs of the city hall and Fire-Defense Headquaters helped them. What a nice high school!
