【意味】雪隠で饅頭とはこっそり隠れて利益を一人占めにすることのたとえ。せんちでまんじゅう。Secchin de Manjuu means secretly hiding all the profits and benefits for oneself.

解説
便所の中に隠れて、他の人に見られないように、１人で、こっそりと饅頭を食べる、ことから生まれたことわざのようです。 また、別の意味として、きたない場所で、うまい物を食べても、気持ちよく食べられないことから、１人で何かをこっそり やっても、つまらない、という意味もあるようです。昔は、同じ家に、たくさんの人が住むことが当然だったので、 便所の中は、１人だけになれる最もよい場所だったのかもしれません。

Explanation
Hiding in the toilet, secretly eating bun without being discovered by others. This is how the proverb came about. Other meaning is that it doesn't feels good even eating delicious food alone in a dirty place. In the past, families usually consist of many members and the toilet is probably the one place where one can be alone.
