Why Yokohama is the place where the port was opened in modern Japanese history なぜ横浜は、近世日本史上 開港の場所なのか

On June 19, 1858, the "Treaty of Amity and Commerce between the United States and Japan" was concluded between the Edo Shogunate, which was then in charge of Japan, and the first U.S. Consul General Harris, and it was decided that the port of Kanagawa would be opened one year later

This is designated as the anniversary of the opening of the port.
In modern Japan, the Shogun Tokugawa family had closed the country to the outside world as one of the measures to maintain peace in Japan after the Warring States Period.
Although seclusion allowed Japan's culture to develop, the country fell behind other countries in industry.

The U.S.-Japan Treaty of Amity and Commerce opened Japan to the U.S. military.
Why was Yokohama chosen as one of the ports to be opened?

It was at the entrance to the Edo shogunate.
Yokohama was far from Tokaido's Kanagawa Station, a key point of transportation for the Edo Shogunate.

These two reasons were the main reasons.

It can also be said that Yokohama was a cold village at the time, and thus had no impact on the region.

1858年6月19日に、当時日本を納めていた江戸幕府と初代アメリカ総領事ハリスとの間で「日米修好通商条約」が結ばれ、1年後に神奈川に開港をすることが決まった

これを開港記念日と定められている。
近世の日本は、将軍徳川家が戦国時代後、日本を平和を保つための一つの施策として鎖国をしていた。
鎖国により日本の文化は発展していったが、産業で諸外国に遅れをとってしまった。

開港場所のひとつに横浜が選ばれた理由は。

江戸幕府の入口にあたったこと
江戸幕府交通の要、東海道神奈川宿より遠いこと

この2点が理由となる。

また、当時の横浜は寒村と呼ばれる場所であったため、地域に影響がなかったからとも言える。
