Japanese cold noodles
Japan has many types of noodles, and one of them is soba noodles made of buckwheat. This can be eaten hot in a soup but also as a cold meal. For a cold soba noodle dish, you dip some noodles in the accompanying sauce and then slurp it loudly as you eat. Contrary to western etiquette, it is acceptable to slurp loudly as it means the food is good. And don't worry, the black bits on the top of the noodles aren't dirt, they are seaweed!
