Japan Photo Blog, Vol. 89 - A Day in the Sun in Niigata.
新潟
Niigata, Niigata.
Pronounced nee-gata, this prefecture and city in Japan, whose name means literally “new lagoon,” has been my home for almost 8 years now.
To me, there is something very special about Niigata. On sunny days like these, walking the random streets and feeling the fresh, now almost hot spring/summer air, I find myself—even on only two hours’ sleep—invigorated and refreshed, and imbued with a sense of possibility, wide open spaces, and an almost surreal feeling of adventure and excitement.
