revelation cat has graced us
with its presence ...
first thing was that weird error that kept complaining "object code will corrupt source code"
which makes sense now we RTFM and it says "the compiler uses blablabla memory this and that"
so at $C000 it doesnt anymore
ofcourse since its already 930 bytes (its got scrapcode in it so theres some room) its not gonna be possible to add a small sid tune and keep it under 1024
so we went extreme and tried a poke -
it makes noise !
but thing is (mostly) since vice randomly skips anywhere between 4 and 50 fps and the pulse gate is set to change during irq which SHOULD be exact 1/50 seconds (but is NOT since vice flips from 4 to 50) its hard to say what it would sound like
but three oscillators in chorus playing one note might give a nice dark sound which is more than enough for a 1stone imo
but THEN revelation cat showed this dangerous lifehacker its true power as it said
your instructions to alter color happen AFTER the line has been reached and the IRQ triggers
and the light shone down
so one line BEFORE it
and a lot of doing nothing and lo and behold
a NON-flickering oneline different colour raster
Now we are alone
(Zakharov - sid meyer alpha centauri)
omoshiroi
definitely
actually as a memo-to-self (never know whos at the keyboard tonight)
i read somewhere a NOP takes two cpu-cycles so counting those i can probably figure out more or less what timing it takes to get stable lines, what i dont know is how much other stuff takes - i read jmps that cross pages use more than jmps that dont so it could be a mite more complicated than this.javascript
the other thing i have to ask myself is does branch on zero work after an inc(memoryloc) ...
yea its "BEQ" (i know that much already im superl33t you know) but branch on zero dus since "the result of" inc(memoryloc) might trigger zero if it was ff which might save ops
...
next thing you know i'll be programming your embedded coffee machine
(nah ...)
gud, i just had to remind me of that
we are always and still open for people who would send us a free amiga
we would certainly not decline
but actually a free 64 original in working state would be even better - they seem hard to find and due to potato-chip wars even ultimate boards are as easy to get as a steamdeck
...
but the chinese says "the demand for pc , phone / consumer electronic has dumped and slumped like hell ...) so maybe Soooooon .... we will be swimming in chips and nvidia gpus will actually cost €600, not €3000
then its just a matter of time
before bread goes back down to €2 !
the future
looks BRIGHT :)
(but hey, if you have no expectations, you REALLY have less stress ... i would have never guessed that)
