MAN, WOMAN, CHILD — FAMILY

in #jahm5 years ago

Family values are important in Jamaica. It all starts with a positive relationship and matures from there.
This photo emanates and reaches out to you. Man, woman and child —
the essence of FAMILY.

This photo was taken on The Seven
Mile Beach, Negril, Jamaica.
I didn’t make the first move here.
Initially I was approached and asked if I wanted to purchase some reggae CD’s. Seems that is a big sales point on the beach to earn some extra dollar’s in the form of J’s. Tourists love purchasing CD’s of raggae music. So quick and easy the revenue. The more personable you are, the more successful you are.
We spoke, interacted and the deal was made. From that point on whenever we made eye contact,
we approached each other to talk.

One day there he was on the beach,
along with his better half who
was with their child. A family man he was, and likely do this day. It dawned on me why he was working the beach. The provider of the future! A whole different
conversation and perspective developed, this guy became more real right then and there.

Of course I asked if a picture could be taken. They were more than
happy to oblige. I’ve yet to have
received a NO to this question. And I’ve asked a lot of times if you couldn’t already tell from previous posts

It’s as if the Jamaican people want their image to endure for all time, just like their music and culture and heritage.

It’s Jamaica, mon 🇯🇲

Respect,
s-irie

salute. modernization did not change the social behavior of Jamaican society. in many places out there, people don't care about the values inherited from their ancestors. This is a good story and good campaign material for readers.

Pictures develop the story. Experiences makes the stories real.
On the ground and telling it like it is.

I think that is customary in us Caribbean people, we proudly show our families, and many of these families stay together, supporting each other, each one places their grain of sand. It is evident that the more you socialize with someone the more trust you are going having, especially if he is a kind person. use the photos for posterity.

What a cool looking family. That's a lucky kid, for sure. 😎

That kid probably now a teenager. They grow up fast.

Love your headline :) Respect, Super Irie.
Jah jah Bless, the Rasta you saw me with on
the "A Day on the Beach" blog, is also hustling
his CDs on the beach....
I'm just not sure how good that business gon' run in
times of streaming and internet...

@luca1777 On the ground you know exactly how it is there.
Can't hide behind the glass door looking out. Have to
experience to tell about it. Not just random scenery pictures.
Touch the people, talk to the people, share with the people.
Only way to place the image and the story together.
Respect Luca

True... reasoning with people is one
of Jamaicas richness! And it starts with taking time
for tings ;)
Respect Bro!

Is that a spliff in his hand?

AHHH CDs. Intersting story, back in the days when CD burning was fresh on the market I had the genius idea to put mixed tapes on CD and track them out ( Well I made two friends do it who had the equipment and the three of us started a little business) Then I'd go with the CDs and sell to the cassette vendors in halfway tree, they would resell for a profit. We had many vendors in town selling the CDs on consignment. Some Djs even blasted us for selling their CDs ( Though the selling of the mixtapes were fine by them). Then the tech got cheaper and everyone started doing it.

Very earthy picture, very real. I see it as harmonious, not only because of the peace they inspire but also because everything that accompanies them is. The beach in the background, umbrella, the three proudly showing as a family, he with his big beard and his big joint, she with his half smile and leaving her infinite to see how his eyes are and the child with the tranquility of knowing that he is protected.
Thank you for sharing the image.

Nice picture and good reflection friend @super-irie
