I Was A Kid | Drive-In Movie Theater
(Photo from craigslostchicago.com)
In the early/mid 90's my mom used to take us to the Drive-In Movie Theater on Cicero in Chicago IL. We used to hide in the trunk because my mom couldn't afford to pay for all of my cousins and siblings to go. I remember sitting on the roof of my mom's car watching Mortal Kombat. The theater closed down some time ago. I will never forget those good times.
The drive-in movies were the best! I think that is something that should have never 'gone out of style' and hope it makes a comeback! There were several here in Maryland at one point, but only one left that I know of. To go there and see the line of cars stretch for miles, awaiting to get in - you wonder WHY they ever closed any!
The place we go is awesome! It's stuck in time..a relic.. They still play the old movie ads from 50s-60s. If you are ever in Maryland, check out Bengies Drive-In / http://www.bengies.com/
You brought back a bunch of good memories @drocobama! Good times!!
I'll keep that in mind. I would love to take my kids so they can experience how fun the drive-in can be. I know they'd love it.
