#10 MILAZZO
When we try to repair things we usually break more than we fix. Luckily this leads sometimes to random stopovers which turn out to be pretty sick.
Best example is our stay in Milazzo, Sicily. Planned as a short stop for one night, we had to stay for two and had the chance for a closer look on this beautiful mediterranean town. Typically for southern Italy not everything is shiny and there are a few spots looking pretty fucked up. Like the big rafinery right across the bay for example.
At the restaurant where we enjoyed our delicious Italian Pizza, our waiter gave us the hint of the day! Instead of going to the hipster jazzclub we went to the night before, he told us to go up the hill. There is an old castle. We walked around the promenade and weren't sure weather we should go up the hill or not, because it seemed like the whole city was around the promenade, enjoying the warm night. In the end we gave it a try and it was absolutely worth it! All the streets around the old castle were filled with people. Six DJs were playing outside the cafes and bars and everybody had heaps of drinks!
Everybody who's keen on loud music, hard cocktails, enthusiastic dancing Italian men and beautiful Italian women who are shaking everything they got – this is the place to be for you! The whole region is partying here and it seems like everybody knows each other.
It's a pitty you won't find somebody who can speak english, but communication works anyway. Due to our blond hair and our lack of dancing skills we were easily recognized as non-Italians, but no one cared. Time and drinks were flying by and we couldn't believe it, as we found out, that this event takes place every Friday and Saturday, legally, right in the middle of regular apartements! #justgermanthings
Anyway, it was the best open-air street party we had in a while and it was a unforgettable night!
Grazie mille, Milazzo!
