Mentre lavora le torna alla mente la rilettura di quel libro fatta durante la notte e quelle di altri dello stesso autore riletti nel recente passato. Davanti ai suoi occhi sfilano quagli uomini politici e non, che hanno rappresentato il popolo italiano e che molti di essi ancora rappresentano anche se avanti negli anni ;i pregi di coloro la cui condotta è stata sempre sorretta dall'onestà, dall'attaccamento al destino del paese,dall'interesse verso la giustizia che sono in verità in numero esiguo, sparuto e di contro i difetti di coloro i cui comportamenti hanno alimentato favoritismi, mistificazioni, personalismi, ruberie, ingiustizie. Il carosello di questi ultimi personaggi con le loro malefatte, continuano a turbare il suo subconscio. Quel governo, quel sottogoverno numerosissimo, quel potere invisibile dall'attività mai indirizzata alla difesa della vera democrazia, che si trovano dentro e fuori il "palazzo"evidenziano condotte inaccettabili da dove traspare l'assenza totale di distinzione tra ciò che è "bene" e ciò che è "male"; tra ciò che va fatto e ciò da cui occorre tenersi lontano. Francesca è convinta che l'uomo latino è, un sognatore, un poeta, un pittore, un musicista: è insomma, un cultore del bello ma poco incline alla meditazione immediata di ciò che succede. Prima o poi, è sicura, si accorgerà di essere tradito nell'impegno politico. Il chiaro-oscuro lo può accettare nell'arte, ma non nell'esercizio della cosa pubblica che non dovrebbe presentare opacità alcuna, e invece essere costantemente trasparente,adamantina.

While working, the rereading of that book made during the night and those of others by the same author re-read in the recent past comes to mind. The carousel of these last characters with their misdeeds, continue to disturb his subconscious. That government, that very numerous sub-government, that invisible power from the activity never addressed to the defense of the true democracy, that are inside and outside the "palace" show unacceptable conduct from where the total absence of distinction between what is "good" appears and what is "bad"; between what must be done and what must be kept away from. Francesca is convinced that the Latin man is a dreamer, a poet, a painter, a musician: in short, he is a lover of beauty, but not inclined to the immediate meditation of what happens. Sooner or later, she is sure, she will realize she is betrayed in the political commitment. The chiaroscuro can accept it in art, but not in the exercise of public affairs which should not present any opacity, and instead be constantly transparent, adamant.

Un sistema politico, dove il mal governo supera di gran lunga la buona gestione, spinge qualsiasi uomo onesto a rifugiarsi nel sogno, a diventare disincantato ed apatico; lo spinge a non reagire subito e adeguatamente per denunciare le sopraffazioni e le ingiustizie, ma lo rende capace di covare malcontenti incontenibili, pronti a scoppiare. Non va dimenticato, dunque, che il cittadino di questo paese giovane e meno giovane, stanco di subire, quanto prima si sveglierà e si chiederà per quanto tempo ancora accettare di vivere in una società dove regnano sovrani spensieratezza, pressapochismo, cinismo e violenza in tutte le sue manifestazioni. Il mondo multiculturale in cui viviamo necessita di una seria riforma delle coscienze che avviino i cittadini verso un cammino ideale, in sintonia con i tempi, ma in funzione del nostro glorioso passato. Occorreranno uomini capaci, cui sta a cuore una società a misura d'uomo, dove una mano stringe l'altra, dove ogni essere vede nell'altro se stesso. Uomini che si prodigano per fare scelte consapevoli e sagge, in grado di assicurare al governo della cosa pubblica l'uomo non la "belva".

A political system, where bad governance far exceeds good management, pushes any honest man to take refuge in the dream, to become disenchanted and apathetic; he urges him not to react immediately and adequately to denounce the abuse and injustice, but makes him capable of hatching uncontrollable malcontents, ready to burst. It should not be forgotten, therefore, that the citizen of this young and less young country, tired of suffering, will wake up as soon as possible and wonder how long they still accept to live in a society where carefree sovereigns reign, pressism, cynicism and violence in all its manifestations. The multicultural world in which we live requires a serious reform of consciences that start citizens towards an ideal path, in harmony with the times, but in function of our glorious past. They will need capable men, who care about a society on a human scale, where one hand holds the other, where every being sees the other himself. Men who strive to make informed and wise choices, able to ensure the government of public affairs not the "beast".

Il compito di formare le coscienze, ineludibile e prioritario, deve però partire dalla scuola, suo campo d'azione, dove Francesca è sempre energicamente intervenuta per coadiuvare una programmazione educativa e didattica in grado di formare le intelligenze. L'impegno dei docenti, dunque dev'essere moltiplicato per rendere i giovani studenti consapevoli delle loro scelte, fiduciosi del domani, ossequiosi di quei precetti che stanno alla base di ogni civile convivenza. Convinta che i contenuti devono servire quale esercizio quotidiano per la promozione di competenze sociali e personali, pensa di convocare al più presto i consigli di classe per stilare assieme ai docenti, quegli atti preparatori allo svolgimento di tematiche disciplinari veramente formative che dovranno consentire ad ogni studente, fuori dall'ambiente scolastico di affrontare e risolvere tutte le difficoltà che incontra nell'arco della sua esistenza e di sapere scegliere chi è degno di reggere le sorti dei suoi concittadini. Esce dalla presidenza,attraversa un lungo corridoio e si porta in un grande terrazzo le cui migliorie avevano reso molto accogliente.

The task of forming consciences, unavoidable and priority, must however start from the school, its field of action, where Francesca is always energetically intervened to assist an educational and didactic planning able to form intelligences. The commitment of the teachers, therefore, must be multiplied to make young students aware of their choices, confident of tomorrow, obsequious of those precepts that are at the base of every civil coexistence. Convinced that the contents should serve as a daily exercise for the promotion of social and personal skills, think to convene as soon as possible the class councils to draw together with the teachers, those preparatory acts for the development of truly formative disciplinary issues that should allow each student , out of the school environment to face and solve all the difficulties that he meets in the course of his life and to know who is worthy to stand the fate of his fellow citizens. He leaves the presidency, crosses a long corridor and leads to a large terrace whose improvements had made it very welcoming.

In esso si fermano piacevolmente a trascorrere i dieci minuti di ricreazione tutti quelli che operano nella scuola. L'ampio spazio è stato programmato per una breve pausa atta a consentire il consumo di qualche merendina all'aria aperta dal momento che le lezioni hanno termine oltre le quattordici e gli alunni, molti dei quali pendolari, raggiungono le loro dimore a metà pomeriggio. Questo grande cortile è lastricato con mattonelle di cotto che, negli interstizi, lasciano fuoriuscire ciuffi di erba verde assai decorativa. È arricchito da geometriche aiuole che, fiorite, esprimono tante vivide macchie di colore nei piccoli superbi "bouchet" di margheritine colorate e tonde di cui sono corredate. In tutto il perimetro gratificano gli occhi, alte piante di magnolie dai profumati fiori bianchi che sembrano di porcellana e altre vegetazioni dalla chioma folta e fulva che il sole, in determinate ore del giorno, rende fiammeggianti. Francesca osserva che il giardiniere non manca di attenzione e cura del tutto: esporta ogni ramo rinsecchito, ogni foglia morta per rendere ottimale l'ambiente alle stesse piante e a chi vive in mezzo ad esse. Si propone di congratularsi con lui che ottempera notevolmente ai suoi precisi doveri. Anche il capo d'istituto ha bisogno di quei polmoni verdi, di quegli spazi occupati dalla natura perché l'aiutano a vivere, ad assolvere i suoi gravosi compiti in maniera equilibrata, serena e a riscuotere risultati eccellenti.
