Una città amata e abbandonata: Taranto (ita/eng).

Eccoci di nuovo qui, è arrivato il momento di parlarvi della mia tanto amata, ma allo stesso tempo maledetta, città.
Taranto vanta particolarità uniche a livello mondiale, che purtroppo non sono tanto valorizzate.
Conta circa duecento mila abitanti, ed è come se fosse un grande paese, perché bene o male tra ragazzi ci conosciamo un po' tutti oppure siamo visi conosciuti.
Nominata come la città dei due mari, il territorio è bagnato dal mar piccolo e mar grande, e vengono definiti i due “seni”.

Here we are again, it is time to tell you about my beloved, but at the same time damned city.
Taranto boasts unique features worldwide, which unfortunately are not so much valued.
It counts about two hundred thousand inhabitants, and it's like a little city, because we know almost everyone, more or less, or we are known faces.
Named as the city of the two seas, the territory is bathed by the small and large seas, and they are defined the two "breasts".

Viene chiamata anche la “città dei delfini”, proprio perché vicino le sue due isole (San Pietro e San Paolo) è presente un gruppo, visitabile con gita in barca o catamarano.
È la prima città che apre le porte al Salento da nord verso sud e dove è nata la tarantella.
Taranto è l’unica vera colonia Spartana oltre i confini greci, infatti siamo gli unici gemellati con loro e possediamo un museo archeologico nazionale (MArTA), uno tra i più importanti in Italia, dove sono raccolti i più grandi reperti della Magna Grecia.
Per non parlare del Talassografico “Attilio Cerruti”, dove effettuano importanti ricerche sul territorio marino.

It is also called the "city of the dolphins", because close to its two islands (San Pietro and San Paolo) there is a group, which can be visited by boat or catamaran.
It is the first city that opens its doors to Salento from north to south and where the tarantella was born.
Taranto is the only true Spartan colony beyond the Greek borders, in fact we are the only ones twinned with them and we own a national archaeological museum (MArTA), one of the most important in Italy, where the greatest finds of Magna Graecia are collected.
I mention the Talaxographic "Attilio Cerruti", where they carry out important research on the marine territory.

La storia di questa terra è molto ricca e intensa, nel passato fu sempre preda delle grandi potenze militari dato il suo punto geografico strategico, ma grazie alla giusta posizione del Castello Aragonese ogni nave nemica che arrivava veniva all'istante bombardata con cannoni nascosti sotto e sopra ogni torre.

The history of this land is very rich and intense, in the past it was always prey of the great military powers given its strategic geographical point, but thanks to the right position of the Aragonese Castle each enemy ship that arrived was instantly bombed with cannons hidden underneath and above each tower.

All’interno del castello vi sono due tipologie diverse di mura, troviamo una bizantina e una aragonese, rispettivamente del 916, l’altra del 1486.
La prima fu costruita con torri alte e strette, per i combattimenti primordiali, ovvero con frecce e lance.
La seconda come ho già detto in precedenza per i cannoni e necessitava di torri basse e strette. Una innovativa modifica fu fatta anche alla forma delle torri. Se prima erano squadrate in seguito vennero rese circolari in modo che attutissero le palle dei cannoni. Circa nel 1800 una delle cinque torri fu abbattuta per permettere la costruzione del Ponte Girevole, che collega l’isola della città vecchia con il borgo nuovo.
La sua particolarità è la divisione in due metà, tramite l’azionamento degli ingranaggi che in modo alternato aprono prima la parte vicina al borgo nuovo e poi quella della città vecchia. Entrambe volgono verso il Mar Piccolo in segno di accoglienza e benvenuto nella nostra casa.

Inside the castle there are two different types of walls, we find a Byzantine and an Aragonese, respectively of the 916, the other of 1486.
The first was built with tall and narrow towers, for primordial combats, so with arrows and spears.
The second one as I said before for the cannons and needed low and narrow towers. An innovative change was also made to the shape of the towers. If previously they were squared afterwards they were made circular so that they drew the cannon balls. Around 1800 one of the five towers was demolished to allow the construction of the Swivel Bridge, which connects the island of the old city with the new village.
Its peculiarity is the division into two halves, through the drive of the gears that alternately open first the part near the new village and then that of the old city. Both turn towards the Mar Piccolo as a sign of welcome to our home.

Sicuramente sto dimenticando qualche monumento, come le Colonne Doriche, gli apogei e l’anfiteatro, ma mi dilungherei troppo.
Di così tanti luoghi belli e interessanti c’è n’è sono svariati, ma c’è un mostro che deturpa e soffoca la città a livello turistico, ma soprattutto a livello salutare di noi cittadini.
Sto parlando della prima produttrice di acciaio in Europa, che ha sradicato migliaia di vite umane e lasciato marcire una città intera. I quartieri vicini sono immersi di minerale che vola dall'acciaieria verso la città quando soffia vento da nord-ovest. Taranto Tamburi il “quartiere rosso”, cosi viene definito il peggiore dei rioni, dove un bambino che gioca a calcio in strada con amici nel tornare a casa sputa rosso o pulendosi il naso esce minerale.
Situazioni strazianti che siamo costretti a subire, non avendo nella città neanche un registro tumorale, perché qui si muore davvero con poco. In ogni famiglia c’è almeno un morto “ammazzato” da questa industria due volte grande la città.
Concludo con una frase incisa su un cartello del quartiere, monito di questi cittadini ormai stanchi: “nei giorni di vento nord-nord/ovest veniamo sepolti da polveri di minerale e soffocati da esalazioni di gas, proveniente dalla zona industriale. Per tutto questo gli stessi maledicono coloro che posso fare e non fanno nulla per riparare”.
Vi lascio riflettendo su come certe situazioni possano esistere ancora nel 2018 e magari commentate il vostro pensiero.
Spero vi sia piaciuta la lettura e che un giorno mi veniate a trovare qui, perché abbiamo uno dei mari più belli e tante cose da visitare oltre il marcio che ci sovrasta.

There are so many beautiful and interesting places, but there is a monster that disfigures and suffocates the city in terms of tourism, but especially at the healthy level of us citizens.
I'm talking about the first steel producer in Europe, which uprooted thousands of human lives and left an entire city rotting. The neighboring neighborhoods are immersed in mineral that flies from the steelworks towards the city when it blows wind from the northwest. Taranto Tamburi the "red district", so it is called the worst of the districts, where a child who plays football in the street with friends in returning home spits red or cleaning his nose comes out mineral.
Woeful situations that we are forced to suffer, not having in the city even a tumor register, because here you really die with little. In every family there is at least one dead "killed" by this twice-large city of the city.
I conclude with a sentence engraved on a sign of the neighborhood, warning of these citizens now tired: "in the north-north / west wind days we are buried by powders of mineral and suffocated by gas fumes, coming from the industrial zone. For all this, we curse those who can do and do nothing to repair. "
