Thousands of mobiles are lost and stolen every day. Losing your phone, with all your contacts, photos and songs, can be a big problem.

One day, Jerome Beckford was sitting on a bench in a park. Suddenly, a phone on the ground started to ring. He pretended not to hear it. Then it rang again.

He answered it. The speaker, Louise, explained that she had lost her phone. She asked, ‘Could you meet me to give me back my phone?’ Jerome agreed to give it back and they arranged a time and a place.

He kept his promise and met Louise. She told him the truth and admitted that it was part of a test. Some psychologists were doing honesty experiments. They left phones in public places and rang them. About 20% of the people who answered the phones refused to return them, but the other 80% agreed to return them.

Why? The psychologists made two key discoveries. lt was definitely true that more people returned the phone if they were asked by a woman, as opposed to a man. Secondly, phones with a car on the screen were less likely to be returned than phones with a photo of a baby. Do these facts make sense? ln the first case, do people feel guiltier about f doing something wrong if they think the victim is a woman? And do babies make us sympathetic?

Whatever you do, make sure you keep a photo of a toddler on your screen and ask your mum to make the call if you lose your mobile!

Migliaia di cellulari vengono persi e rubati ogni giorno. Perdere il tuo cellulare, con tutti i tuoi contatti, foto e canzoni, può essere un grosso problema.

Perché?
Gli psicologi hanno fatto due scoperte fondamentali.
Era decisamente vero che la maggior parte delle persone hanno riportato il telefono se erano stati chiamati da una donna, a differenza di un uomo. In secondo luogo, i telefoni con un'auto sullo schermo avevano meno probabilità di essere restituiti rispetto ai telefoni con una foto di un bambino.
Questi fatti hanno senso?
Nel primo caso, le persone si sentono più colpevoli di fare qualcosa di sbagliato se pensano che la vittima è una donna?
E i bebè ci rendono comprensivi?

Quindi qualunque cosa fate, assicuratevi di tenere una foto di un bambino sul vostro schermo e chiedere alla vostra mamma di fare la chiamata se perdete il tuo cellulare!
