Prefazione

Le Orme rappresentano a pieno merito il meglio del Rock Progressive Italiano assieme alla Premiata Forneria Marconi ed al Banco sono anche quelli che sono riusciti ad esportare il nostro Prog fuori dalle mura di casa.

E’ stato anche il primo gruppo Italiano ad incidere un disco Live “Le Orme in Concerto” , pionieristici e precursori ad inizio periodo anni 70 , ottimi professionisti e considerati da molti geniali , gli accostamenti a Yes ed agli Emerson Like & Palmer non sono casuali , il loro tecnicismo e in primis la tastiere di Pagliuca ne sono l’esempio lampante.

Collage viene inserito tra i primi dischi progressive italiani , prodotto nel 1971 mostra per la prima volta il tentativo da parte di un gruppo di uscire dagli schemi Beat che imperversavano ad inizio anni 70 , quello che stupisce al primo ascolto è il tecnicismo davvero sorprendente e di ottima qualità , aggiungerei molto vicino ai livelli di Band prog internazionali e di fama .

L’album si apre con la title-track “Collage” e subito non possiamo notare l’influenza degli EL&P specie nel modo di suonare le tastiere di Tony Pagliuca sicuramente all’altezza del tecnicismo mostrato dal collega Emerson , non a caso vi è il richiamo alla Sonata K380 di Domenico Scarlatti.

Si prosegue con Era Inverno dove si respira ancora il fenomeno Beat ma mischiato da qualcosa di nuovo e di fresco nel panorama Rock italiano , apprezzabile e degno di nota la parte di organo Hammond.

Ma le qualità tecnico ed artistiche del gruppo vengono messe in evidenza con uno dei due brani a mio parere miglior dell’intera opera Cemento Armato , pezzo che ancora oggi non ha nulla da invidiare a brani più famosi e storici a livello internazionale , ancor auna volta Pagliuca ci delizia con l’uso dell’organo , insomma un brano di altissima qualità.

Se per molti Cemento Armato è il top del disco andando controcorrente io ritengo invece Sguardo verso il cielo il vero capolavoro di Collage , anche qui le tastiere la fanno da padrone ma è tutta la struttura compositiva a renderlo magico , batteria , voce e chitarra , il tutto in un mix che ancora oggi viene stimato in ogni parte del globo , considerandolo un brano tipicamente Italian Prog.

Con Evasione Totale si torna al sound più tipico e leggero ma pur sempre tecnicamente perfetto è un pezzo strumentale che ci introduce alla parte finale del disco.

Immagini ennesimo brano dove dominano su tutto le tastiere è un brano tipicamente Pop

Chiude il disco Morte di un fiore che come Era Inverno mischia il passato della band con le nuove influenze progressive , anche questo molto piacevole ed orecchiabile ma sicuramente inferiore a Cemento Armato e Sguardo verso il cielo che per un amante del buon rock non può che apprezzare.

Preface
The Orme fully represent the best of Italian Rock Progressive together with Premiata Forneria Marconi and Banco are also those who managed to export our Prog outside the walls of the house.
It was also the first Italian group to record a Live disc "Le Orme in Concerto", pioneering and precursors at the beginning of the 70's, excellent professionals and considered by many brilliant, the combinations to *Ye * and Emerson Like & Palmer are not accidental, their technicality and above all the keyboards of Pagliuca are the prime example.
Collage is included among the first Italian progressive discs, produced in 1971 shows for the first time the attempt by a group to get out of the Beat patterns that raged at the beginning of the 70s, what amazes at first listening is the technicality really amazing and of excellent quality, I would add very close to the levels of international and renowned prog bands.

Review
The album opens with the title-track "Collage" and immediately we can not see the influence of EL&P especially in the way of playing the keyboards of Tony Pagliuca certainly up to the technicality shown by the colleague Emerson, not by chance there is the reference to Sonata K380 by Domenico Scarlatti.
It continues with Era Inverno where you still breathe the Beat phenomenon but mixed with something new and fresh in the Italian Rock scene, appreciable and noteworthy the part of Hammond organ.
But the technical and artistic qualities of the group are highlighted with one of the two songs in my opinion best of the entire work Cemento Armato, a piece that still has nothing to envy to more famous and historical pieces to At international level, once again Pagliuca delights us with the use of the organ, in short, a piece of the highest quality.
If for many Cemento Armato is the top of the disc going against the current I think instead Sguardo verso il cielo the real masterpiece of Collage, even here the keyboards are the master but it is the whole structure compositional to make it magical, drums, voice and guitar, all in a mix that is still estimated in every part of the globe, considering it a song typically Italian Prog.
With Evasione Totale you return to the most typical and light sound but still technically perfect is an instrumental piece that introduces us to the final part of the album.
Immagini yet another song where the keyboards dominate over all is a song typically Pop
Closes the disk Morte di un fiore that as Era Inverno mixes the band's past with the new progressive influences, also this very pleasant and catchy but definitely inferior to Cemento Armato and Sguardo verso il cielo that for a lover of good rock can only appreciate.
