E' passato oltre un mese da quando i Golden State Warriors hanno vinto il loro secondo titolo consecutivo.
Due anni fa GS ha vinto il titolo dominando per l'intera stagione.
Quest'anno in finale non hanno avuto alcun problema, eliminando i Cavaliers con un facile 4-0 e riuscendo a trovare una soluzione all'unica stella di Cleveland: Le Bron James ormai stanco di una stagione in cui ha dovuto portare avanti la sua squadra da solo, in finale non ha potuto far altro che cedere ai campioni in carica. La regular season 2018 ed i playoff sul versante Ovest però hanno dimostrato come lo strapotere degli Warriors si stesse mettendo sempre più in discussione sul versante "pacifico" della NBA: squadre come Houston avevano dimostrato un forte miglioramento e tutte le carte in regola per detronizzare la squadra di Kerr. Ma i Rockets hanno fallito gara 7 di finale di Conference in un vero "suicidio sportivo", dove il tiro da 3 punti dei texani ha tradito il loro attacco.
GS ha quindi vinto quella che per molti versi è da considerarsi, oggi, la vera finale della stagione 2017-2018. I meriti degli Warriors vengono oscurati dalla sfortuna ed i demeriti di Houston.

Sicuramente questo aspetto non è pasato inosservato alla dirigenza californiana che ha subito percepito l'idea di come altre squadre si siano adeguate al loro gioco e come l'Ovest stia diventando più competitivo.
