Medieval two-year recall in Fenis (ENG-ITA)

In this article I want to talk about the two-year historic recall that takes place at Fenis, usually on the last Saturday of July.
As I wrote earlier in my post, the recalls tell of events that have actually happened in the past. This in particular tells about the inauguration of fenis castle by Aimone of Challant in 1340.
I will talk to you about the last edition of the event that took place in 2016.

Most of the event takes place in the green area at the foot of the castle, called "Tsanté de Bouva" (it's patois, an Italian dialect). For a day visitors can immerse themselves in a completely medieval scenario and rediscover lost crafts and flavors... But let's go!
The event started around 2 pm with Aimone's welcome speech at the door of the castle and then headed for the green area. After the parade, the spectators watched the archery tournament with a prize-giving ceremony around 19:00 and take a walk on the market where it was possible to rediscover the old trades and taste a particularly spicy wine made with a recipe of the time!
In addition to this, you could also witness the performances of chivalrous activities, the performances of clearings and drums, you could admire the hawks and owls and, if you believe in that kind of things, there was also a fortune-teller ready to show you your future!

If you think that the party ends here you are wrong, in fact during and after dinner the participants could attend a firefight show! The party ends with the procession accompanying Aimone and Lady at the castle.

It was the first time that I participated in such a massive event, as a historical group we started to organize the party a year before that and during the day we prepared everything, parade, play, welcomed the various groups, served dinner (about 700 people !!) and resumed playing and playing drums. It was a busy and tiring day, but in the end I met so many people and know new friends and the most rewarding of all, the moments where people complimented me for the success of the party!
If next year in July you go to Fenis and for a day you want to live in the Middle Ages, go and visit us, you are welcome!

In questo articolo voglio parlarvi della rievocazione storica biennale che si svolge a Fenis, generalmente l’ultimo sabato di Luglio.
Come scritto precedentemente in un mio articolo le rievocazioni narrano di eventi realmente accaduti in epoche passate. Questa in particolare narra dell’inaugurazione del castello di Fenis da parte di Aimone di Challant avvenuta nel 1340.
Vi parlerò dell’ultima edizione della manifestazione che si è svolta nel 2016.

La maggior parte della manifestazione si svolge nell’area verde che si trova ai piedi del castello, chiamata in patois “Tsanté de Bouva”. Per un giorno i visitatori possono immergersi in uno scenario completamente medievale e riscoprire mestieri andati perduti e sapori…Ma andiamo con ordine!
La manifestazione è iniziata intorno alle 14:00 con il discorso di benvenuto di Aimone alle porte del castello per poi dirigersi verso l’area verde. Dopo la sfilata gli spettatori hanno assistito al torneo di arcieria con relativa premiazione avvenuta intorno alle 19:00 e fare un giretto nel mercatino dove è stato possibile riscoprire gli antichi mestieri e assaggiare un vino particolarmente speziato fatto con una ricetta dell’epoca!
Oltre a questo si poteva anche assistere all’esibizione della attività cavalleresche, alle esibizioni di chiarine e tamburi, si potevano ammirare i falchi e rapaci vari dei falconieri e, se ci credete, c’era anche una cartomante pronta a leggervi le carte!

Se pensate che la festa finisca qui vi sbagliate di grosso, infatti durante e dopo la cena i partecipanti hanno potuto assistere ad uno spettacolo dei mangiafuoco! La festa si conclude con il corteo che accompagna Aimone e signora al castello.

E’ stata la prima volta che ho partecipato ad un evento così massiccio, come gruppo storico abbiamo iniziato ad organizzare la festa un anno prima della stessa e durante la giornata abbiamo preparato il tutto, sfilato, suonato, accolto i vari gruppi che cominciavano ad arrivare, servito la cena (all’incirca per 700 persone!!) e ripreso a sfilare e suonare. E’ stata una giornata impegnativa e faticosa, ma alla fine ho conosciuto tantissime persone e sono nate nuove amicizie e cosa più appagante di tutte, i momenti dove le persone mi hanno fatto i complimenti per la riuscita della festa!
