So lately this craft has been on the rise with all the tv shows and the momentum of handmade products, especially in wealthier places like America and few others.

The questions come up really fast....
-why should i spend money on a handmade knife?
-is it worth?
-is it better than an industrial one?
-why is so expensive?

well one simple answer is that in 95% of the handmade knives there is just one silly human doing it, plus years of practice and research combined with hand picked steel and materials, accurate finishes and matching of the components will ensure a high quality product. And that drives the price up

Well it's worth, do you remember that knife your grandma was using when you were 5 and it's still used by you on a daily basis to prepare food? yes that one, you see it lived over 3 generations by now. You will say ohh then i'll buy the same brand... you are out of luck probably that company failed and you know, now quantity is far more valued than quality.

When you buy a handmade knife you buy an object that will outlast you, your sons, grandsons and so on if it's taken care off, and when you buy handmade you are actually fuelling the passion of us makers.

Ultimamente questo settore sta diventando popolare, anche grazie alle serie Tv e alla riscoperta dei prodotti artiginali, sopratutto in paesi piu ricchi come l'America e altri...

Le domande sorgono rapidamente...
-perché dovrei spendere soldi su un coltello artigianale?
-il prodotto ne vale la pena?
-è meglio di un industriale?
-perché è cosi costoso?

Per farla semplice, nel 95% dei coltelli artigianali ce solo una persona dietro, poi anni di ricerca e pratica combinati con materiali e acciai selezionati, accuratamente finiti e accoppiati garantisce un prodotto di alta qualità, e ovviamente questo aumenta il costo.

ne vale la pena, se ti ricordi hai ancora il coltello di tua nonna, ormai trattato come una reliquia a discapito del uso giornaliero per preparare il cibo. Come vedi è sopravvissuto per 3 generazioni. Mi dirai -beh allora ne vado a comprare uno indentino- per tua sfortuna nel 90% dei casi quella ditta non esiste più o hanno applicato una filosofia di quantità a discapito della qualità.

Quando compri un coltello artigianale, otterrai un oggetto che ti servirà nella tua famiglia per generazioni in cambio di un minimo di manutenzione. Inoltre comprando prodotti artigianali si alimenta la passione di noi artigiani.

This is my last piece, a cleaver requested by a friend of mine for his wife birthday.

The blade is forged out of reclaimed leaf spring, heat treated using my last research to ensure a long life and excellent cutting capabilities.
the handle is made out stabilized curly maple dyed red, the process of stabilizing is done by me using a vacuum chamber and heat cured resins.

Questo è il mio ultimo lavoro, una mannaia. ordinata da un mio amico per il compleanno di sua moglie.

La lama è forgiata da un pezzo di balestra di camion, sulla quale ho poi applicato le mie ultime ricerche di trattamenti termici che assicureranno una vita prolungata e ottime capacità di taglio.
Il manico è stato realizzato in acero fiammato tinto e stabilizzato da me con un sistema di sottovuoto e resine catalizzate a caldo.
