Cradle of Filth (ITA/ENG)

Innanzitutto prima di accingervi a leggere questo articolo ci tengo ad avvisarvi che ci sono foto e fatti che potrebbero urtare la vostra sensibilità, nulla di estremo chiaramente...ma ci tengo lo stesso ad avvisarvi!
Oggi ho il piacere di presentarvi un gruppo molto particolare, che in parte ha fatto la storia della musica Black Metal: i Cradle of Filth. Per la precisione il loro genere è il Black Metal Sinfonico, nati in Inghilterra nel 1991.
Gli "scoprii" quando avevo una quindicina d'anni, dopo Iron Maiden e Ac/Dc avevo proprio bisogno di qualcosa di più pesante da aggiungere ai miei gusti musicali, fu così che mi invasai con questo gruppo dai suoni sinfonici e cupi e con una voce acidissima, veramente difficile da digerire ma personalmente ne rimasi stupefatto, non mi capacitavo di come un umano potesse urlare cosi tanto e cosi alto.
Poco dopo averli scoperti ebbi l'occasione di andarli a vedere al "Babylonia" di Ponderano (Biella) che all'epoca era fulcro di concerti, purtroppo pochi anni dopo sparì nel nulla e per poter vedere dei concerti bisognava spostarsi fino a Milano, per me che abito in Valle d'Aosta è stato un bello schock, nonostante a Milano ci si metta un paio d'ore ad arrivare ma all'epoca aver un luogo per andare a vedere i concerti quasi attaccato a casa era qualcosa di impagabile.
Quel concerto me lo ricordo come se fosse ieri, soprattutto perché cadetti durante il "pogo" (per chi non lo conoscesse è il genere di "ballo" in cui si è tutti ammassati a spintonarsi, peccato che in quello fosse pieno di fessi con le borchie su tutto il corpo) e battei l'osso sacro e durante il viaggio di ritorno in macchina dovetti stare seduto su un lato del corpo ed a ogni curva imprecavo, ma lo ricordo bene anche perché dal vivo sono un show unico.
All'epoca essendo molto black metal neanche tanto scenici, li ho visti cinque volte dal vivo e mi accingo a rivederli a febbraio, con gli anni sul palco spuntavano fuochi alti un metro, saltimbanco che giocavano con torce infuocate e gente sui trampoli con maschere abbastanza marce.
Rimasi un pò deluso dal cantante perché su disco era un pò meglio che dal vivo, comprensibile dato che su disco non sta zitto un attimo e canta quasi tutto il tempo tra "growl" e "scream" continui, probabilmente non diceva quasi nessuna parola che diceva sul disco, anche se nel genere non che si capisca molto di cosa dicono e non che sia cosi fondamentale dal mio punto di vista; per mia fortuna perché se dovessi stare ad ascoltare tutte le cazzate che dicono nei testi molti gruppi metal probabilmente smetterei di ascoltarlo.
Sui loro dischi c'è poca linearità, i primi sono nettamente black metal, poi pian piano sono diventati più sinfonici per poi perdersi dopo quello che secondo me è un capolavoro "Midian", tra gli anni 2000 e 2012 sono stai molto criticati per il loro operato ma sono tornati alla ribalta nel 2015 con "The hammer of the witches" e da pochi giorni è uscito il loro ultimo album "Cryptoriana" che è davvero figo, un ritorno al passato che ho apprezzato davvero molto!
I testi sono scritti in un mix di linguaggio tra inglese moderno ed arcaico, narrano per lo più di storie ultra macabre, leggende della letteratura gotica e paesaggi del romanticismo. Tra i temi toccati nei loro testi vi sono: vampirismo, sesso e satanismo ma soprattutto nel primo periodo della loro carriera, dopo si sono concentrati più su poesie mitologiche e leggendarie davvero smarze....allegria insomma!
Durante la registrazione di "Damnation and a day" sono state convocate l'Hungarian Film Orchestra e l'Hungarian Film Chorus, in molti dei loro album si hanno comunque voci coriste femminili e cori di vario genere.
Daniel Davey in arte "Dany Filth" è una persona molto particolare, il gruppo non è un vero gruppo, il gruppo è lui.
Avrà cambiato un "migliaio" di membri, tra litigi e giramenti di scatole personali di Dani. Quest'uomo è un genio del marketing, nel genere infatti è stato accusato più volte di essere commerciale e blasfemo, una mossa che gli ha fatto guadagnare molti fans: li ami o li odi insomma, fatto sta che è riuscito ad attirare l'attenzione su se stesso e diventare famoso con tutto ciò.
Il loro nome significa "Culla delle oscenità" al contrario a quanto molti pensano dato che il termine "filth" ha più significati, dei quali quello più accreditato è "sporcizia".
Hanno girato anche un film splatter-horror intitolato "Cradle of fear" con Dani attore principale naturalmente, ne ho visto un pezzo ma è abbastanza scandaloso e non ce l'ho fatta a continuare.
Oltre ai numerosi album, una media di quasi uno all'anno tra tutti, hanno pubblicato parecchie cover di altre band tra cui: Hallowed by thy name degli Iron Maiden, Mr. Crowley di Ozzy Osbourne , Black Metal dei Venom, Hell awaits degli Slayer, Sleepess degli Anathema, Sodomy and Lust dei Venom, Death Comes Ripping dei Misfits e Into the Crypt of Rays dei Celtic Frost.
Nel 2016 ripropongono una la versione originale del loro secondo disco "Dusk... and her embrace" perché all'epoca l'etichetta gli chiese di addolcirlo un po' con sonorità più melodiche in quanto non risultava molto commerciale.

First, before reading this article, I want to warn you that there are photos and facts that could hurt your sensitivity, nothing extreme ... but I want to warn you!
Today I have the pleasure of presenting you a very special band, which in part made the history of Black Metal music: Cradle of Filth. To be right their genre is the Symphonic Black Metal, born in England in 1991.
I "discovered" when I was fifteen years old, after Iron Maiden and Ac/Dc I needed something heavier to add to my music tastes, so I went crazy about this band with symphonic and dark sounds and with a acid voice, really difficult to digest but personally I found it amazing, I did not know how a human could scream so much and so high.Shortly after I discovered them I had the opportunity to see the "Babylonia" to Ponderano (Biella-Italy), which at the time was the focus of concerts in this area, unfortunately a few years later disappeared into nothingness and to be able to see the concerts I had to move to Milan, for me that I live in Valle d'Aosta was a beautiful schock, although in Milan there was a couple of hours to arrive, but at the time having a place to go watch live concerts near tomy home was something priceless.
That live I remember it like if it was yesterday, especially because I fall down to the floor during the "pogo" (for those who do not know it's the kind of "dance" in which everyone has been massed to push, unfortunately was full of dumb people with studs on all over the body) and beating the sacred bone, on the way back on car I had to sit on a part of the body and at every curve i swear, but I remember also well because live is a unique show.
At that time they didn't are too much scenic because they was very black metal, I saw them five times live and I intend to see them again in February, but with during the years on the stage there were a couple of high fire flames, acrobat playing with flashy torches and people on stilts with stranges bad masks.
I was a little disappointed by the singer because in the album it was a bit better than live, understandable as he didn't shut up in the record for a moment and sing all the time between continuous growl and scream, he probably didn't say almost any word of the record album, though in the genre not that you can understand much about what they say and not that it is so important in my point of view; fortunately for me, if I were to listen to all the bullshit they say in the lyrics, many metal groups I would probably stop listening to it.
On their albums there isn't too much linearity, the first are clearly black metal, then slowly become more symphonic and then lost after what I think is a "Midian" masterpiece, between 2000 and 2012 were very criticized for the they worked but came back to the fore in 2015 with "The Hammer of the Witches" and a few days ago came their latest album "Cryptoriana" which is really cool, a return to the past that I really enjoyed!
The lyrics are written in a mix of language between modern and archaic English, tell of mostly very macabre stories, gothic literature and romance scenery. Among them are: vampirism, sex and satanism, but especially in the first period of their career, after they have focused more on mythical and legendary poetry really dark .... happiness!
During the recording of "Damnation and a day" the Hungarian Film Orchestra and Hungarian Film Chorus have been called, but in many of their albums there are still female choral voices and choirs of various genres.
Daniel Davey in art "Dany Filth" is a really particular person, the band is not really a band, the band is him.
He will have changed a "thousand" of members, for Dani's quarrels and mind changing. This man is a genius of marketing, in fact he has been accused several times of being commercial and blasphemous, a move that has made him many fans: you love or you hate them, the fact is that he has managed to attract attention on himself and become famous with all this.
The word "filth" in their name doesn'y means "dirt" how to many people but is more like "obscenity", the word "filth" has many meaning.
They also shot a horror-movie titled "Cradle of fear" with Dani the lead actor of course, I've seen a little but it's pretty shocking and I did not do it.
In addition to numerous albums, an average of almost one a year at all, they have released several covers of other bands including: Hallowed by thy Name by Iron Maiden, Mr. Crowley by Ozzy Osbourne, Black Metal by Venom, Hell's Awaits by Slayers ,Sleepess by Anathema, Sodomy and Lust by Venom , Death Comes Ripping of Misfits, and Into the Crypt of Rays by Celtic Frost.
In 2016 they released an original version of their second album "Dusk ... and her embrace" because at that time the label asked them to soften it a bit with more melodic sounds as it was not very commercial.
