Da Vinci Times #13.2
Bees and the zero
After dolphins, primates, parrots and, of course, humans, it seems that also bees are able to perceive the absence of something like a quantity; somehow, to be aware of the number zero.

This ability might seem obvious, but it is not obvious at all, and even in humans it is not acquired before four years of age. Researchers at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and at the University of Toulouse have demonstrated their thesis by submitting bees to complex experiments, after which it was clear that they were not only able to distinguish different quantities, but also to recognize in a certain way the "zero".
How to get water from the air
A group of researchers at the University of California has created a device that can condense the humidity of the air, using sunlight as a source of energy to work.
Imagine CC0 Creative Commons - Source
The device was tested in the Arizona desert, where air’s humidity is generally very low: from 10% during the day, to 40% during the night. Scientists used an extremely porous, zirconium-based material that maximizes the surface of contact with air. Zirconium is expensive, but researchers said that they have already thought of a cheaper aluminum-based device. Within a few years these machines could be used for commercial purposes, and could satisfy water needs in desert areas.
When the sun shrinks
During periods of maximum activity, Sun's radius are reduced by about 2 km. This is the conclusion reached by a group of scientists who have used a particular technique to measure the ray.
Imagine CC0 Creative Commons - Source
Since the Sun does not have a solid surface, measuring its size is not easy. The technique usually used to measure the radius of our star is based on the variation of its brightness, starting from the center. With this method, in the last years, variations in the radius have never been detected. This time the researchers used a different approach: they measured the frequency of seismic waves that propagate inside the Sun, the frequency that depends on the size of the star. In this way it was established that the Sun's ray changes over time, decreasing during periods of maximum activity.

After analyzing the possible implications of a "flat Earth", @anomalogy tries to evaluate the consequences of a "faster" land; what would happen if the Earth turned on its axis faster? Would life be possible as we know it?

Imagine CC0 Creative Commons - Source
Ricavare acqua dall’aria
Imagine CC0 Creative Commons - Source
Imagine CC0 Creative Commons - Source

Woow what a post and your blog rocks I love Da Vinci sir
So the 0 was actually invited thousands of year ago by bees? Cool reference by the way :)
