Three key genes
Imagine CC0 Creative Commons - Source
The large size of the human brain is due to the mutations of three distinct genes, the first of which from 3 to 4 million years ago. This is the theory of two distinct groups of researchers, Swiss and American, who argue that mutations have induced brain stem cells to multiply and produce other stem cells at a faster rate. This process led to the formation of a large number of neurons, and consequently increased the size of our brain.
How the heart develops
A group of researchers has succeeded in establishing what are the mechanisms that, starting from the first embryonic developments, lead to the formation of the heart. They used as a model a Zebrafish fish, whose heart develops very quickly. Since there are many similarities with the human heart, researchers hope in this way to better understand the functioning of this important organ. The hope is that one day, from this discovery, may derive treatments for cardiac deformations.
A younger cluster
Globular clusters, immense spherical groups of stars, could be younger than until now thought. The discovery was made by a group of researchers who analyzed the light emitted by a binary star system, located at the edge of a cluster. This allowed scientists to establish that the cluster in question was formed only 9 billion years ago, and not 13 billion as previously thought. This fact could have important repercussions on the cosmological models that describe the formation of galaxies.

Probably you have experienced it, or at least heard about it: that state of confusion and drowsiness that often presents itself after a long journey by plane? It's called Jet Lag, and @kingabesh tells us what exactly happens to our body when it shows up.

People who loves navigation know that a special attention must be paid to icebergs, and in particular to their submerged part. @sakura1012 tells a part of Freud's thought, reminding us that our mind and our consciousness are similar to an iceberg... We need to pay more attention to their submerged part.

How different will a flat Earth be? and Could we survive? by @anomalogy

Also here on Steemit there is someone who think that the earth could really be flat. While recognizing this "extravagance", @anomalogy tries to imagine what our planet would look like if it were really flat, and what the consequences could be.

NOTIZIE PRINCIPALI
I tre geni chiave
Imagine CC0 Creative Commons - Source
