THE CLASSIC AND THE MODERN
Hi dear friends,
This is one of my watercolour paintings in which I tried to represent one model in a more classical way, while the other in a more modern way :-D
The more modern one on the left side has brighter and surreal colours, and the more classic one is kept on lighter colours and is more defined.
Here are the two pictures:
I think the classic one is more elegant.

Questo é un mio dipinto ad acquarello nel quale ho cercato di raffigurare una modella in modo piú classico, mentre l'altra in modo piú moderno :-D
Quello più moderno a sinistra ha dei colori piú accesi e surreali, e quello piú classico é tenuto su dei colori piú leggeri ed é piú definito.
Eccovi qui le due immegini viste piú a vicino:
Trovo che quello classico sia piú elegante.
While the modern one is more fiery.
Mentre quello moderno é piú vivace.
Which one do you like more?

Voglio andare un pelo contro corrente, e mi sposto sul moderno, una volta tanto, mi piace il maggior dinamismo della donna.

Con grande indecisione, alla fine mi dirotto sullo stile classico. Mi piacciono molto i colori morbidi e l'eleganza del dipinto. :-)

The one on the left (modern) is more expressionistic, Der Blaue Reiter is what I was thinking, but Kandinsky was borderline surrealistic also, except most art historians have a bias against Surrealism and try to separate as many artists as they can out of the Surrealist realm. To get a good overview, the book by a contemporary French Surrealist, Marcel Jean "The History of Surrealist Painting" is very informative about the movement, from Dada onward. I had it, but someone did not return it after borrowing it.

I like the classic more, maybe because I like bright colors. It's more realistic. Although modern is not written with less talent. Both pictures are beautiful!
