Land has been acquired for launch site in Tamil Nadu: ISRO chief

The Indian Space Exploration Association has obtained land for the proposed rocket send off site in Tamil Nadu where a platform would be set up, the head of the space organization said on Sunday. ISRO administrator S Somanath said the space organization was right now during the time spent combining the land at Kulasekarapatnam in Thoothukudi area, around 650 kilometers from here.

"The subsequent send off site is at Kulasekarapatnam (in Tamil Nadu), we have proactively gained the land. Presently, we are merging the land to guarantee it is all inside our limit wall," he told correspondents here, after the effective send off of 36 satellites on board the LVM3-M2/OneWeb India-1 Mission.

ISRO has wanted to set up a subsequent send off site and had recognized the beach front town in Tamil Nadu for taking up missions that require little satellite send off vehicles when contrasted with the one in Sriharikota which is presently being used for missions embraced by the space organization.
