I can't believe a stats professor wrote this piece.

Right off the bat he misleads by using a chart of a cumulative sum, rather than the daily change. A large cumulative sum will almost as a rule have apparent linearity that obscures the variance of the daily change.

In any case it gets worse from there. As a stats professor he should realize that all of the things he mentioned can be reconciled by reporting backlogs and reporting methods. Since death registries aren't a real-time count, they are subject to the limitations of the reporting capacity and process.

We saw this a lot during the coronavirus pandemic. Reported deaths would be backfilled and vary based on reporting lags. None of this was evidence that the deaths were faked.

We've had several independent studies on the deaths in Gaza in this conflict that if anything suggest the Gaza Ministry of Health may be undercounting deaths (given the difficulty of finding bodies in rubble and the disruption of the conflict on the infrastructure in Gaza). And in past conflicts, the Ministry of Health's death reporting has been very accurate.

He just is throwing a lot of circumstantial innuendo at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Imagine viewing the satellite analysis of the destruction of Gaza and thinking there haven't been mass casualties.
