Holy Land Tour - 1st Trip into Palestine - by @teachernici
Mount of Temptation in the Town of Jericho in Palestine
One of the places we wanted to visit was the Mount of Temptation just outside the Town of Jericho - only problem - it is in Palestine. We were told by anyone that we spoke to that it was too dangerous for us to visit, especially seeing that we were driving an Israeli Registered car.
So being the adventurous people that we are, we decided to drive as close as we could to Jericho. We were fully expecting either the Israeli or Palestinian Police to stop us at some point and turn us back.
As you leave Israel you pass these warning signs, we were a little uncomfortable, but pressed on.
We came to the entrance into Jericho without see any security persons - so drove on.
Today there was no problem, but it is not always this peaceful, and on another visit into Palestine, which I will report on in the future, we found ourselves in a very dangerous situation.
Anyway, on this day, we kept driving and followed the signs to The Mount of Temptation.
As soon as you cross into Palestine our Israeli Sim Card stopped working and we could not follow Google Maps
Wow you that was an adrenaline situation! How risky! Well I don't know if I would have had the courage to do it, but I'm glad you made it and everything went well. Thank you for sharing this amazing experience (which I don't think it will be repeated ever) with us!
If it were up to me, I wouldn't have done it, but my husband is adventurous and a 'risk-taker'. All worked out well so I'm trying to not be such a skeptic in future situations.
Safety first ! Then comes tour and travel .. We need to keep hermony first. I will go only after that.
Wise counsel to keep in mind for similar future situations. Thank you.
Looks very interesting since you don't really know what to expect but it looks a little bit scary.
Hope your travels turn out really well and you will meet your expectations of it.
Looking toward to more of your travels in Palestine.
Our experiences in Jericho were good. The people were friendly and helpful; prices were cheaper than Israel. The Mount of Temptation was a worthwhile place to visit.
