You make a good point. Muslims are against gambling and considering the international banking system is actually one big financial casino using a bank to hold your assets is just as haram as eating pork...
I think this is not the matter of "Halal or Haram" because both of these or not "currency" according to Islam. I think according to Islamic concept the real currency is, who have its own stable & constant value like gold, silver etc.
