The United States Virgin Islands Authorizes National Guard To Confiscate Guns, Property, And Supplies

As the Virgin Islands are preparing for a hit from what has been coined the most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic Ocean, they have activated the national guard. The odd thing about this is that they have literally authorized the guardsmen to “appropriate” guns, ammunition, explosives and property needed to respond to Hurricane Irma. The order was signed by Virgin Islands Gov. Kenneth Mapp on Monday.

Why in the world would the national guard need guns and ammo to prepare for a hurricane? Shouldn't there more focus on the actual humanitarian aspects of such catastrophe like making sure people have enough food and water to survive, they that have secured their property properly for the insane wind speed anticipated? Shouldn't there be more focus on making sure there are appropriate resources to deal with the aftermath of the hurricane?

Instead it seems that the government wants to secure themselves to ensure any civil "unrest" would be handled swiftly. What do they plan on doing wth the ammo and guns? Do they plan on attacking Irma directly using semi-automatic weapons? I think this is just another great example of how insane the world and mainly the government has become. They seem to get nervous about maintaining their rule in any situation that might pose any slightest threat.
